Based on revenues for the 2009/2010 season.

Hopefully before long the stadium will have been paid for and we can buy the players we need without having to go to the bargain basement. :emoticon-0105-wink:

It does not however take into account any debt...... they'd be off the list as would united (scum) city.
20th on the list is aston villa...

are you going to argue with deloitte and see only what you want to see? we're just behind barca. we'll overtake them within the next 2 years easily, with the reduced interest payments

If you read the full report you will see that Deloitte reckon that Real Madrid and Barcelona will stay ahead for years to come

Arsenal actually overtook Chelsea in the rich list last year.

Interest payments: around 50 million Euros
Extra revenue above Arsenal and Chelsea: over 75 million Euros and growing.

In 2007, Arsenal's revenue was 264 million Euros. In 2010 it was 274 million Euros.
In 2007, Chelsea's revenue was 283 million Euros. In 2010 it was 256 million Euros.
In 2007, United's revenue was 315 million Euros. In 2010 it was 350 million Euros.

Say what you want about the debt, our revenues and operating profits are gonna be the largest in England for the foreseeable future.

Catching Barca and Real is likely to be impossible for any of the English clubs for the next few years - they've gotten about a five year headstart over most other clubs in developing their commercial revenues. United are the only ones who show any signs of catching up - Arsenal's commercial revenue actually fell last year, and is lower than anyone in the top ten's apart from Inter.

Yep. That UNICEF thing was a work of genius. It massively boosted Barca's profile and made loads of companies want to sponsor and associate with them. And now they are gonna keep UNICEF on the back, so getting all the shirt sponsorship and all the revenue from the other companies as well.

Ironically, Arsenal's piss poor commercial revenue is partly down to the new stadium. That's tied you into a shirt and stadium sponsorship deal with Emirates until 2014 at the earliest. It could even make it hard to renegotiate to a better deal at that point - now that the stadium is defacto known as "The Emirates Stadium", it may be really hard for the club to attract any counter bidders to drive the price up, or attract other sponsors to the stadium. I wonder if that will prove to be a big drag on revenues in the future?

What is going on with Chelsea? their revenues are decreasing and with the FFP rules coming in and their existing massive losses and not guaranteed top 4 status their not in such a great position. Man Utd have debts of 500m secured against a bond. Utd are financially secure with revenue increasing yearly Utd can compete for transfers especially with the ffp coming in. Utd make operating profits of 100m which is profits-costs. The debt interest payments on the bond is 45m a year which leaves over 55m for Utd to use. In addition, Utds bank account is healthy with a 163.8m balance.

It has been said many times that Arsenal could have got a lot more money for the naming rights for the stadium
