I just think people are making wild punts on reasons why it's not gone through yet.. The reality is that it's complicated.I don't think they're holding back for daft reasons like when the season ends or any of the others we've heard. It's just not done yet
What I can’t fathom is... if the Saudis have done all that stuff to stop piracy... why then go and ban Qatar From broadcasting to their country.. whilst still wanting to buy NUFC. they don’t add up.
The only conclusion I can make is that the Saudi’s have been told the outcome and it is negative. Masters went on record to say it was the purchaser who was the one who will share the result.
Yes and it's clearly become complicated what with murders, piracy and god knows what else coming into play.. I think that is likely the reason rather than what colour Mike Ashley's underpants are on a Sunday
If the Saudis are using national security as a reason to ban Qatar then does that impact upon the MENA TV deal?
depends on the clauses but national law should trump any other legal instrument. Hopefully the Saudis will emphasise that they don’t interfere in the legal process in their courts. It would be hard for the PL surely to try to get PIF.. a separate entity to try to influence the courts. It’s a right mess for the PL to be fair.
I'd have thought that the Saudis are within their right to block any broadcaster they see fit from broadcasting in their territory. This would have no impact on the deal between the PL and BeIN. The deal (as I understand it which could be very wrong) grants exclusive rights to BeIN to broadcast in the MENA region. If Qatar has pissed off it's neighbours enough that they won't let a Qatari broadcaster, broadcast, that is a geo political problem and should have nothing to do with the PL
Yep. Though shouldn’t is the operative word. I reckon the 28th is a deadline but I also think we’ll be as much in the dark then as we are now. At some point we have to consider it isn’t happening.
National security grounds. If Qatar are a national security threat (the WTO deemed them to be) then the PL cannot insist that the Saudis unblock BEin.
