Can anyone else just smell the shifting of blame announced today. Local Authorities given licence to act locally and independently. Employers given power to decide what is safe or not for their businesses. No influence by Central Government ergo no blame for Boris if it all goes tits up. What a guy..............if this man gets anymore Trump like he will indeed be a Donald.

Don't agree sensible.....Of course he wouldn't have called a white or golden coloured dog by that name....a white dog maybe Snowy....and a gold dog maybe Goldie.........your associating the word N***** automatically with black people...maybe it's your problem that you cannot see beyond blacks being called N*****'s.....we are all brain trained over time to connect the two.....we will never sought out racism until we change our thinking regarding calling people by a colour.....when I was into oil painting years back... N***** brown was a colour on my pallette associated with the depth of darkness in that range of brown oil paints....simple as that....it's this world that has turned it into what it has become today.....another example is the innocent word gay....it has now got a completely different meaning today......you wouldn't call a happy person gay today....because you might be offending them when they are sexually straight.

Surely that is the sensible approach.....you shouldn't shut down the whole country because of how some morons act in a town or city regarding Covid-19...and the same applies to businesses and companies to sought out their own safe working practices....some places will have premises that are more easily adaptable to safe working....do you penalize them by making working rules from central government.....haven't we for years been complaining about the big brother approach....I think the PM has got it right this time.

I watched the film "42" last week, the story of Jackie Robinson, the first black man to play in US major league baseball. Robinson suffered prejudice in the WW2 military but overcame opposition to become a commissioned officer in a segregated cavalry unit. After the war, he was recruited from the professional but segregated negro leagues by the Brooklyn Dodgers and suffered intense prejudice from all and sundry. Nevertheless, he went on to
become Rookie of the Year in 1947, an All-Star for six consecutive seasons from 1949 through 1954, and the National League Most Valuable Player in 1949. After he finished playing, his shirt number was retired by all major league teams as a mark of respect, with the exception on day of each season when every player in every team wears the number 42. I appreciate this was all 70 years ago, but it shows what lies in the recent past never mind the 16th and 17th centuries and indeed isn't completely gone now if you scratch the surface.

Black Lives Matter may not be perfect and there's no doubt some within it have a wider political agenda, but there's also no doubt that non-white people have very good grounds to complain, Only today news (and photos) have emerged of a Metropolitan Police officer kneeling on the neck of a black man.

On the brighter side, the Government has said it hopes to allow fans to return to sporting events on 1st October.............................

I promise to give up on my complaints about Boris being a moron. Clearly the man's leadership is second to none and we should all be grateful for his guidance over this National emergency. What a guy he is. Lets all vote him in again next time.

Sorry sensible that you cannot respect another persons point of view other than your own....it does come over as being a little arrogant that your view is the only view that can be right.

Why do they say that David de Gea is one of the best goalkeepers in the world....in the last year or so that hasn't been evident....two mistakes today...one really terrible.

You can call it what you like plym but I call your views racist. Maybe not intentionally but rather old fashioned and out of date. Words like that are offensive. If you can't see that then there is no hope. There is nothing arrogant about that it is simply a fact which millions of other arrogant people agree with.

We're all racist Plym, in as far as we have a natural tendency to prefer people who are "like us", whether it's in terms of skin colour, religion, politics, age, income, whatever.. I'm sure that isn't confined to white people. The thing is to be aware of it and to try to give the other lot a chance before you form an opinion of them and to allow them to live the way they want, within the law of course.

I'm a firm believer that black lives matter. I'm less convinced by Black Lives Matter as an organisation, if that's what it is.

I agree with what your saying notDistant....but this taking the knee pose whilst raising a fist in a black glove is racism....nothing to do with equality of colour or creed.

Racists from wherever will be pleased that equality is being sidelined by protests and marching....it gives them a cover to turn such events into a punch up to vent their feelings under the guise of seeking equality.

In the meanwhile black gangs continue to knife each other in turf wars for the control of territory and drugs....and cry out against stop and search tactics that tries to control the carrying of weapons....I must say that although the majority are black there are whites involved as well....we must be politically correct when we talk about such subjects else we can be called racist.... and I wouldn't want that to happen twice in one week.

But given the violence, abuse and discrimination black people have suffered at the hands of the white man over centuries, raising a fist as a political statement is actually extremely mild!

Just because you are old there is no excuse for bringing 1950s thoughts of what is acceptable into present day. The taking of the knee and raising the fist is a symbolic gesture adopted by the movement to draw attention to the inequality that exists. You just can't help yourself can you. These black people only do the marching to have a punch up with Authorities is what you have just said above. In the meantime black gangs knife people and deal in drugs. If you were in the Police right now no doubt you would be kneeling on a black neck because they deserve it don't they. After all they deserve to be stopped and searched every day because they are all criminals anyway. You have a computer. Put the 'N' word in under "meaning of the word 'N'" and see what comes up. See if it mentions your paint box in any of the definitions. When you have done that put your shovel away and stop digging. Better still stop bringing up the subject of race.

We call white Bears...polar Bears....we just need to call your Bears BC....North American Bears....that shouldn't offend those of a sensitive nature.

Yellow peril... will need to be re-assessed next....any idea's......and how do we stop Coal Miners from blacking-up like black and white minstrels that's a difficult one......it gets more ludicrous by the day

I wonder what name they put on Guy Gibson's dogs gravestone last week so that it didn't offend anyone.....erased from 70 odd years of history.....maybe..."Here lies Guy Gibson's dog",,,, that should be neutral enough....problems being raised were there wasn't one to start with.

Not only did we have N***** brown oil paint in the past but...N***** brown shoe polish as well....all gone now....there must be other things as well....but why do we have to dig things up to turn it into a racial slur....just leave things alone......that's my final word....this has been prolonged for far to long....I just don't think we need to find an offensive angle for everything from the past and erase it from the history books.....isn't that what Hitler tried to do.

So the Long Lost report on Russian interference in British democracy has been retrieved from whatever filing cabinet it was hidden behind.

It concludes that the Government badly underestimated Russian intent to interfere even after evidence to indicate the Scottish independence referendum and the 2016 US presidential election were tampered with.

No attempt was made to investigate interference in the Brexit referendum or to stop it in relation to the 2019 general election. Nobody in Government wanted to touch the issue with a ten foot pole. The Government is said to have "ACTIVELY avoided looking for evidence". Actively mind you.

There's a Twitter storm out there of Brexiteers from Farage down pumping out the falsehood that the report says there is no evidence the Russians interfered in the referendum. Actually it says that nobody even looked for it, which is amazing. It's obvious the Russians would support Scottish independence, Trump for the White House and Brexit as the all weaken the individual countries and international institutions. The Leavers doth protest too much methinks.

You know what I just fecking give up. Sometimes when your head has been beaten to a pulp you just have to recognise it is pointless with some people because no matter how hard you try you just cannot penetrate a thick scull. Just google the definition and I rest my case.
