He’s gone full on Bill Gates and fake facts now mate. Truly remarkable, that seemingly intelligent people can end up in these contorted positions, that lack even simple logic and can be pulled apart quicker than a Primarni T shirt.
I think it comes down to a need to appear to be privy to info that other people don't have. A fear of being seen as going along with the narrative, so they will literally seek out alternatives, no matter how unfounded they are. It's an ego boost, and ultimately reveals some deep rooted insecurities. What concerns me is that most of this **** is being driven by a right wing agenda, mainly based in the US. But its anti-establishment (deep state) message has somehow captured the imagination of left thinking liberal types. I've seen liberal thinking friends of mine literally telling me that Bill Gates, George Soros et al are the enemy and Donald Trump is secretly plotting to have them all thrown in prison so that he can liberate the world. Mental.

It’s plain odd to me. I’m a truly cynical **** when it comes to the establishment and the politicians who do their bidding, but you need to have a basis in fact for any firm position to have any real substance and thus credibility , otherwise it’s nothing more than a brain fart. These days, people seem to run with a narrative and then seek to piece together an argument with either fake facts that they’ve not corroborated or with absolute flights of fancy that they’ve created themselves.

Same here. Yet the conspiracists create a strawman argument where if you question this bollocks, they label you as a sheep who will believe anything the establishment says. Clearly that isn't the case, but it's easier for them to frame this in an us v them narrative. Spot on with your second point. That whole Qanon website literally has a flow chart linking just about every single conspiracy together to weave a narrative that suits the overall agenda of the **** they are peddling. For people who claim to be able to see through the false claims of Govt and uncover the truth, they don't appear to do much fact checking on their own claims.
