Yes, I really feel like we're not going to be a challenger anytime soon. Hope I'm wrong, but it's felt 'off' for weeks. This "decision shortly" crap has been ridiculous, two weeks later still nothing. When you go on a fortnights holiday, you don't get there day one and think "better get on with it, this is going to end shortly". Personally don't think Mauriss actually exists. What I read this morning (not on social media) was some utter bullshit about a "charm offensive" and he's "considering a PR firm to raise his profile". Errrrr, you can "afford" a £350m football club, don't "consider" it, you'd just ****ing do it, surely?? So we've now got a "when all games are finished" comment, which just sounds like more crap to me. FWIW I think Saudi bid will 'disappear', Mauriss won't exist and we'll have another slough of rumours come Jan.
That feels very Newcastle, though. I don't think a sale to Mauriss would happen - he'd also fail the test. My interest may be piqued again if the PL are taken to court. Could be quite funny, particularly if both sides decided to take action!
I don’t honestly know what to think right now. All events that I thought would trigger it to go through have more or less happened and now I’m scratching my head. The last one being Masters and his interview and the shortly comment. This feels like a very long time ago now. Timing now is critical for any impact of a takeover to happen for next season. If it’s not done by the window opening I think that’s a huge sign of what we can expect next season.
There is a simple solution to this. 1. Mike Ashley puts us into Administration this week. 2. 12point deduction relegates us to the Championship - 3. Saudi's offer accepted by Ashley 4. Saudis approved by EFL (they approved Wigan owners who turned out to be a Hong Kong gambling ring so should go through in 2-3 days). 5. Mbappe, Messi et al see us back up in PL with a record points total of 138 I reckon that will be quicker than waiting on masters to make a decision. Edit: its only a 9pt deduction in PL - we might still be safe
I would love to see Masters hauled up in front of a High Court judge. I suspect a lot of dirty laundry will come out. If the Qatari's can infiltrate the halls of Westminster, what makes people think that a lowly sporting company cannot be bought. I remain adamant that the Qataris have tried to bribe PL officials.
