It's just going to get worse and worse. It's been progressively getting more ridiculous for years,
No one specifically complained I think.

It seems like as per, a company in this case Channel 4 **** their ****ing pants and censored the word.

Then again Channel 4 has been a bunch muling left wing tarts for a few years now. Their general election broadcast was ****ing diabolically ****.

Exactly. I bet not one person on here knew that the light bulb was invented by a black man.

Makes you wonder how many other ideas and inventions were 'claimed' by establishment figures and how much talent there is today in the refugee camps of places like Sudan that simply goes untapped.

Theirs untapped potential wandering around council estates in Britain and every single country on this earth.

My personal belief is that anyone can be taught and trained to do something if they're motivated, I think we stifle progress and **** ourselves with these needlessly strict university degree requirements.

Its far worse in Europe were some people can't even get jobs beyond store work without a degree. So many intelligent people who maybe can't be educated correctly through school simply being wasted.

You responded to my comment, with this has part reference, where in my comment you quoted did I say it was a 'new thing'?

I actually even went on to say or alluded to that it wasn't a new thing, as you noted when you said, 'those who control the power, control the narrative.' which was an acknowledgment of sorts of my point.

If anyone thinks removing ****** from an historical gravestone is going to make the slightest bit of difference to racism, then sadly we have learned absolutely nothing since the 70's and before my time. The evidence of having learned nothing is the very killing of George...but hey a headstone erasure of a name will make this all better, FFS!

As Chief highlighted in his video, shall we start correcting the name Edison for it's historical misuse. Good luck with that one <ok>

Yeah and he was called ******, just because it’s trendy to attempt to rewrite history I’m afraid they failed miserably imho.

I wasn't referring to you making the 'new thing' comment fella, just an overall observation <ok> And yep you noted that history is recorded by those in power.

As for removing the name from the dog's headstone, will it make a difference ? Probably not much, but it's part of a wider discussion that definitely needs to happen imo.

He's right. I certainly had no idea about the lightbulb thing.

Its akin to all the black people and woman who worked at NASA and got no credit.

They're now being recognised. Now THAT is proactive and appropriate fighting against racism and properly rewritting history.

I've said before that I think it's more to do with class than it is race. Equality of opportunity is definitely not the case though.

People of colour also tend to be disproportionately represented in poorer communities, so it's a double whammy

Yes a DISCUSSION, but that's not what is being had, changes are being made without that discussion and education being the foremost purpose.

Much as I think the NEW statue should remain in Bristol, but it has to be part of a discussion, no matter how much I think it should stay, or not be removed until that discussion has now been had.

As for the statue before it, I'd rather that suffer the consequences of the drink, then a City getting torn up, by people hell bent on some sort of aggression to release their anger. At least it meant no coppers got hurt, and no innocent businesses trashed, as we have seen eleswhere in the world.

The artist who erected the statue in Bristol intended it to be a temporary installation, so as to be part of a discussion. I think that's a smart move, otherwise you get people crying about decisions being taken without consultation. That said, you can't do everything by committee, otherwise you'd just end up with split opinions and nothing ever changing.

How does the dogs name have any impact on the actual history?

Me old gran rest her soul, used to use phrases like N*gger brown and working like a n*gger, they’re of no historical value, merely a reflection of the times and when that word was common place in our society, and just how racist her generation largely were.

So, as per that 20 year old article I posted, is the right thing to just leave it in and just accept that word was what it was at that time, or, do they erase it seeking to avoid offending anyone, and create a debate where people cry about ‘their’ history being stolen?

As it goes, removing the ‘i’ from that plaque was ****ing dense imo, and has just invited exactly what it’s delivered.

Reminds me of the OJ Simpson trial.

The prosecution wanted the word "******" banned from the courtroom because as Chris Darden the prosecutor said "its such a strong word, that it blinds people and they wont see the truth."

Johnny Cochran got up and said its offensive that black people are apparently too stupid to see past the word.

Of course the entire defence strategy revovled around using the word to blind the mostly black jury. Which they proceeded to do as soon as the detective took the stand. OJs southern white defence attorney famously asking "have you ever used the word ****** Detective Furhman?"

    Prosecution was right btw.

I think you’ll find the tide of history is turning against old farts like you mate.

And me too, probably. But at least I’m not the one trying to justify an offensive word on a dog’s headstone.

I always imagined you were a punk rocker type in your youth.

Has nothing to do with anything but I'd like confirmation
