Is it that long since you were in the top division that it was called the Premiership?

In all honesty after tonight's win, you will be in the Premier League next season and there on merit.

Like Cardiff, Leeds have their detractors and many will grumble and moan about your return.

Not me, you have been the best team in the Championship and deservedly on top. The table doesn't lie.

It is good to have banter between our clubs and that is all it should be. Anything more is ridiculous.

It is in our hands to get into the play offs. If we do then our opponents will be one of West Brom, Brentford or Fulham. All tough so it will be very hard for us to join you. I'm not optimistic and the downside of not going up will be that we have to get our usual tally of points from Leeds, from another club.

Good luck next season and rattle a few cages. <ok>

Much of the baggage carried by any club is historical and there's no escaping it. There's no doubt Leeds have had their "past" and the reputation both good and bad carries some weight.

For my part I remember the domestic success and European exploits of Leeds with a great deal of respect, but then every club put on a pedestal becomes a target for detractors.

As for City we have our history too though not to the extent that it's become something of a cliche to be shot at like Leeds.

Good luck to Leeds Utd FC in the Premier League and their fans who have suffered for the best part of 20 years.

Their forum on not606 is one of the best, if not the best I've visited. I'd like to be part of the banter next season in the same division, and it's really down to ourselves to see that come about having got ourselves to where we are right now.

Leeds at the moment are just one of 71 EFL clubs. As such, they compete for the right to be promoted. This season it looks as though they will complete their journey from the third tier to the first. They've done it on merit and because they got more points than the other teams in the Championship. They are neither more or less deserving of their promotion than others that achieve the same. If I'm honest, I'm not 100% certain of the purpose of the question. I'm sure the fans will have fun with their club playing in the top flight just as we and others have done. Good luck to them.

Yes Leeds are perceived to be an arrogant football club due to their insistence there really is a concept that a club with a big fan base with a history of success in the past has a god given right to always in the top flight and challenging for trophies.

However the truth is they had over the time football has been played, only a few relatively small periods of time when they were genuinely a top team viz the Revie era particularly as well as briefly the 1992 old 1st division title and fleetingly the O’Leary sides.

Take those away, and granted they won more in those slender periods of time than most clubs have won in their entire histories, and they have had many fallow years.

I suspect a lot of their current fan base would never have seen Giles or Lorimer or even Cantona, suffering season after season of 2nd and 3rd tier football in a dilapidated old stadium.

So it will be thrilling for their fans, the modern generation in particular to see if their team can bring some success back to the football club, even if it is highly unlikely (unless massive foreign money is pumped in) they’ll see what the fans of the 60’s and 70’s witnessed.

Will Cardiff join them to get their customary points off them? Highly unlikely so it may be a season or two before we resume hostilities on the field.

But it will be mightily tough for them next season especially given the difficulties clubs will face with acquiring new (and better) players, but at last for their fans it is a deserved and merited success<applause>
