Fair point like, I remember United having a song about Park Ji Sung that involved eating dogs and he was their player.
I was going to say the same thing. It isn't a new phenomenon. You can go back to the 60's and find racist chants. The new 'cancel brigade' have had a look at Swing Low Sweet Chariot for links to slavery.
must admit I haven’t followed or seen any of it myself but it sounds like he tried to defend the comment and only sacked him after there was backlash to that apology video? If as you say he’s someone that’s had a lot of abuse thrown his way then seems odd he’d try and defend the guy and only take action when there is a big backlash?
That’s about the size of it, but I’d read it as Robbie defending it on the basis of what Claude had told him he was referring to, and then fans simply not having it and pointing to the casual racism angle. Irrespective, I can see why Robbie wants to be cleaner than clean with regards to any racism accusations, but also think it’s probably all a bit OTT.
It comes down to not only doing the right thing but being seen doing the right thing which, in these days of social media, seems to be the most important although, in reality, it isn't. You do the right thing whether anyone's watching or not.
