Sorry to see Hull Box Office go - It would be very sad to lose all the good things that came out of CoC 2017.

Went to a few punk gigs at Welly years ago then a few over the last 10 years like Buzzcocks, The Fall and Heaven 17 but I was never a regular. My kids loved it though and it became the nightspot for youngsters once the big old clubs like Romeos and Tiffs all shut, where are 17 to 21 year olds going to go post lockdown?

Didn’t Dave May sell them as a job lot to someone else?
Now he’s back at Fruit it seems like he backed the right musical horse? (although that will be challenging too of course)
Polar Bear was great, but could be replicated in other pubs I think, the massive loss is Welly. Great venue and big enough to bring in reasonable size bands.

A lass who worked in the prossy centre Clinton’s was a massive City fan.
All her mates would be in smart gear on a Sunday night and she’d be in jeans and a City shirt!! And this was back in the 90’s when we were really really ****

    Statement
    July 16th 2020

Two VMS Live companies enter Administration

Two of the six VMS Live companies have entered administration, with the likely loss of 20 full-time jobs, with the remaining four VMS Live companies remaining solvent, and active within the current Covid-19 restrictions.
Kate Forster and Bert van Horck transferred their authority as Directors for VMS Live (2011) Ltd and VMS Live (Venues) Ltd on July 15th 2020.

The remaining four companies will continue to operate, as before, under Kate Forster and Bert Van Horck’s Directorship.

    CEO Bert Van Horck states:
“I am deeply saddened that we had to make this decision, following the completion of the yearly accounts, the announcements of the government and the bank reconciliation, which lead us to be at immediate risk of trading whilst insolvent.

“I would like to thank all of our staff on behalf of Kate and I for the magnificent efforts made to try and save these two companies, both between September and March during normal trading and beyond into the COVID-19 enforced closure”

VMS Live was restructured following the unexpected death of founder Steve Forster in 2019 and the departure of two remaining directors. The initial restructuring was completed in January 2020 and the company was in a good place to achieve accelerated growth. After 115 days of enforced COVID-19 lockdown closure, the group lacked financial buffers capable of resisting the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

    Ends

    Any enquiries please contact:
The appointed administrators: Hugh Jesseman and Steve Illes of Antony Batty & Company, 3 Field Court, Gray’s Inn London WC1R 5EF.

VMS Live are not available for comments or interviews at this time

They or some one close to them will most likely start back up when indoor gigs are happening again ...VMS have always being a money grabbing set up...it will probably be more so they don't have to pay staffs wages in the mean time on reflection.

Devastated at losing Welly, adore that place.
