Morning all. Cloudy at present, and the metéo was correct that we did have a little overnight rain. I didn't do any watering last night so very glad to see the road damp this morning. Last night was one of the occasions in the year when the street lights stay on all night to help the revellers get safely home, but by 9.00 pm all of the shutters were firmly closed, and there were no cars moving, so reckon it was a waste of energy. So back to normality today with plenty to do before the temperature rises towards the end of the week. Have a good day whatever you are doing. <ok>

It's freezing here. I thought about taking today off to go skiing but it was -10C on the slopes.

The newspaper seller outside the Rose and Crown 1954 who had the football results in Stop Press by the time you hoofed it up Market Street. Who needed mobile phones. :emoticon-0100-smile

I don't remember that - but do remember fighting for a spot by the window of Radio Rentals to get a view of the results as they were read out.

Morning all from a rather grey start to the day in rural France. The patio in our garden suffers a lot from moss growing up in all the cracks. At one time I used to kill it off with a chemical, but then found that a pressure washer using just water was as good. A neighbour lent me one that has been used just once a year, but it stopped working while she was using it, and it is not worth repairing. So that I had use of one, and could return the favour, I went on a hunt to find the best price. Supermarket in town reasonable, but checked it out on Amazon. Amazon UK more expensive than the store, plus delivery, Amazon FR cheaper than the store, but when I found the best price on there discovered it would come from the southernmost tip of Italy, but free delivery. It was 60% of the cost from the UK. Ordered it and told it would be 7-10 days before delivery. Watching the tracking service it has had a rapid journey the length of Italy, took a breather while France had a holiday, but has now reached Poitiers from where it will be delivered. Hope to see it for the weekend. Have a good day whatever you are up to. <ok>

Should be alright as it is made in Germany and should withstand any battering.

Morning all. Bright and sunny and a top temperature of 28°C is expected. My pressure washer has left Poitiers for delivery today, quite remarkable seeing just how far it has travelled. The company that is putting a new motor in the washing machine have phoned to say that they will come Tuesday next week instead of Thursday which pleases Mme. If the day continues to have good news I fully expect to find some really good wine at knock down prices in town. Have a good day one and all. <ok>

My hair, what is available, is getting longer, one strand at the front will soon be in my eye. Mrs S says I look like a tramp with all the wispy bits. My Hairdressers not open yet and I am not going to a teezy weezy Palace.

Well it will have to choose which eye, if it doesn't fall out first.

Morning all. Already warm verging on very warm and there is no breeze whatsoever to take the heat away. Needed some bread as we are going to be invaded by three teenage girls this afternoon who have very healthy appetites, so a trip to the bread machine was required before it was emptied. They are coming to pick plums down the field that need to come off before the wasps get at them. Massive crop this year, more than I have ever seen, which I can only assume is due to the wet start to the year. Quite a change from then as the forecast says there will be no rain in the coming ten days and we should expect temperatures up in the thirties. With my various types of peas and beans that are in flower it looks as if I will be busy with the watering can. Have a good day whatever you will be doing. <ok>

Morning all. Yesterday was hot by the afternoon, and today there will be another couple of degrees on the thermometer. Yesterday picked goodness knows how many kilos of plums as we didn't weigh them, but our daughter has taken half of them home and we have the other half waiting to be stoned and cooked before they spoil. My neighbour Bernard has his own food preparation table set up in a barn where he spends a lot of time preparing fruit or vegetables for their multitude of freezers. His wife makes cheeses and at one time they had their own small grape press to produce some wine. Just the way they have always lived, but they do have TV to watch when the food preparation is over. Have a good day whatever you have planned. <ok>

Morning all, another day in the extraordinary life a Hornets fan. Speaking of the little blighters they have sensed that the pears are ripening, so are gathering to spoil what are rightfully mine. Yesterday was hot and it will be even hotter today, so jobs now, then retire to the shade for the afternoon. For some reason my mind went back to the days when the Watford Pigeon Fanciers Club raised money to keep Watford FC afloat. Football is supposed to be a sport, but seems to be slightly mad at present with games being played in Wembley Stadium in front of no fans. No doubt one day it will sort itself out, but I fear for the smaller clubs who rely on locals to keep them going rather than huge receipts from TV. Have an interesting day whatever you might be doing. <ok>
