https://www.themag.co.uk/2020/07/st...ation-is-the-big-problem-at-newcastle-united/ “The biggest thing about Newcastle is the huge expectation. “There comes a time when you have to think we are where we are" You could almost join the dots and say the fat headed one is preparing the ground for Ashley to resume full control of NUFC on the back of the takeover failure..... Contrast this with Rafa who dreamed and thought big about our potential. Well I suppose if you employ a lower table/championship manager you get that level of thinking. Surely a decent coach will back themselves to develop and get the best out of players......
he's a company lick arse. if hes not licking ashleys arse he's licking other managers arses in his pressers...
He's right though isn't he? Our fans do constantly moan about our lack of ambition under this ownership. As he says we are where we are, we have the owner we have, we should have accepted this ages ago and done the best we can with it. Constantly moaning, campaigning, boycotts, protests, shouting at shops has done precisely **** all except engender bitterness and negativity. Its also given fans of other clubs something to laugh at I suppose. I've long thought that we should have knuckled down as a group of supporters ages ago. We let him know we wanted him out. That was enough and he agreed to leave, but the only thing that was gonna make that happen was him getting an offer he couldn't refuse. He now appears to have that. I understand the fans though, its their form of release on a Saturday, it would be nice if it was a pleasant escape. There is huge expectation here, and its not a bad thing. There is also a lack of realism unfortunately. Equally I'm sure Bruce will understand that if the Saudi's take us over, we will be where we will be then, and he will need to pack his gear up. Yep its The Mag spouting **** as usual and trying to spread their negativity again.
I don't think this is wholly fair ot the fans. You could run our club within its means without displaying the complete contempt for achievement that has been the hallmark of the Ashley reign
I mean change the word "expectation" for "ambition" and he is probably right. There is NO expectation from the fans to be anything more than we are - especially under Ashley. What there is a lot of is an ambition to be the best we can, to push the envelope and try and better ourselves every year, to try in the cups, to try for more than safety every year maybe aim for mid table mediocrity and then when we get there to try and push for a consistent top 10 finish, and from there try and break into the top 6 and if by some miracle we do make it to Europe to buy more than a Vurnon Anita to give it a good go. The club have had 14 years to try and better itself but we have stagnated and probably gone backwards from where we were prior to Ashley. I don't think any one expects trophies, league titles or even European adventures so what does expectation mean to these people? What do other clubs "expect" to try and achieve?
We will agree to disagree. What we are talking about is the reality of our situation. It is irrelevant what could be done, the reality is what Ashley is willing to do. We've known that to be very little for a very long period, but have continued to piss moan and spread negativity. I get it, its the fans pleasure, they just want someone to give a **** like they do. Mike doesn't though and he couldn't have made it any clearer. So I've long thought we'd be better served refocusing and accepting we are where we are as Bruce says. Don't get me wrong if anything positive could come out of the all the pissing and moaning, I'd probably say it could be justified. But it seems a bit stupid to me, to just keep moaning for 12 years without it achieving anything at all. Not one decision made by Mike has been influenced by the fans. The bloke is like an emotionless shark.
Ah, if you mean that it is unrealistic to hope for our owner to not act like a complete **** then we may well find ourselves in agreement
all season he's said the club's moving fwd , last week it hadn't stagnated and this week there's to much expectation from the fans and we are where we should be .. he's got it right in the end yes
I don't want you to both agree to disagree. I want to see a fight at McDonalds with BigMacs used as lethal weapons, with McNuggetts used as armour piercing bullets with McFlurrys used as ointment to ease injuries suffered in the McFight. Come on the pair of you, McMan Up or face the consequences.
It's Mike Ashley to blame. The season he took over: Tottenham finished the season with just 2 more points than us. Southampton finished 20th in the Championship Leicester were relegated from the Championship. Since then Leicester have won the PL Tottenham are considered a main stay in the top 6 And finally according to Steve Bruce, Southampton are a club we should aspire to be like.
Sadly he’s right. We are where we are. Ashley has ****ed this club but you can’t blame Bruce for that tragic failure. 100% this. He's just being right, hard to blame him for the constant failures of Mike Ashley. If this takeover fails, we have to realise it's Ashley, Bruce, Charnley, "pound for pound", purple players, austerity and 17th as the aim. That's us, that will never change if Ashley continues to own the club.
Is that enough to keep you going/watching games though? For me that would kill the club, the city and the fans - as proved by the 10k walk away's we had this year - if its more of the same next we could be at 35-38k gates on a match day with a totally apathetic fan base who are so disenfranchised by the club no one really cares what happens or worse still - start to think Ashley is running the club reasonably...
What he’s said today is just a pure joke. What fan will ever be happy with constant 13-17th placed finishes. It’s like watching a film on repeat, it’s got good parts, **** parts but just never ends & your just happy when it’ll be over. He’s lost my respect with those comments today, making out as though we should be on the same level as say Brighton etc. What a ****stain.
Look at wolves and Sheff Utd this season. Both similar levels or worse over the course of 13 years and now they have completely taken over us. Neither have spent bucket loads of money either. Burnley is another prime example. Yes the football isn’t great sometimes but look where they are this season. Southampton for years sold a lot of very good players over the 13 year period aswell and still are a better club than us. Remember their poxy lopsided stadium. There’s plenty of mid table clubs being ran significantly better than we are. Bruce is clearly just building up his excuses and laying down the caveats so when he does eventually end the season with 5/5 losses and the feeling around the place is that of despair. He can say well I did my job. Our expectations, what are they? To avoid relegation every season and that my friends is success! How very ambitious!
I think because of the season ticket refund carry on. The dreadful end to the season (5/5 losses). Takeover hangover (if it fails). Covid and potential unemployment and Bruce in charge we could be looking at less than 35k and even worse.
Sorry, sorry, sorry. Forgot to add at the end that I was posting on behalf of someone else who was to shy to post it themselves. Isn't that right @Albert's Chip Shop
