The analogy's just fine Rebs. The fool-proof way of stopping AIDS is abstinence. The equally fool-proof way of preventing crime is everybody behaving themselves. What's the difference? Both would be very effective, both are very unrealistic.

Ok, you can have your police as a metaphor for a sheath, lets call it Paul Condom(n) and I'll have the message of the church as a fully armed to the teeth Swat team.

There is nothing unrealistic about promoting monogamous relationships. It is largely the social norm already. Humans have been monogamous (by and large) for thousands of years.

    Paul Condon <laugh>

Humans have been monogamous IN THEORY, but there's always been fornication and always will be. Basically you think humans should be trusted to behave sexually, but not in legal matters.

There's a big difference between monogamy and abstinence anyway.

I haven't said what I think at all. I had only pointed out that Med Dog's assertion is fundamentally flawed.

I'll ask you if you lived in an area where there was an inordinately high incidence of the HIV virus whether or not you think that the approach of the church is the right one.

Find a partner and have a deep trust and faith in them and **** away for the rest of your days.

    Bang like **** (sans bag)

Bang like **** (Johnnied up to the hilt).

Conducting your own risk assessment in that situation, what option do you think makes the most sense?

I can't be arsed reading the whole thread. Why are we talking about abstinence and monogamy?

Fair enough. I'm sure it would be highly effective under those circumstances. I just think that if you were looking for a worldwide cure for STDs, condoms would be more successful.

Not that I even care. **** knows why I've bothered arguing so much! That's 606 for you I suppose.

Henry Kissenger is the most important man in recent history

If you 100% don't want aids don't have sex

If you think its worth the risk wear a hood

If you're really too horny to wait on one don't

If you're really too catholic, I respect your willpower

But if you **** like a dog and get aids....its not the popes fault <ok>
