'Maskless in Magaluf' A fitting epitaph for many a resultant headstone. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...n-brits-maskless-in-magaluf-appals-spaniards?
Sir Desmond Swayne, Conservative MP for New Forest West, is distinctly off message describing wearing face masks while shopping as a “monstrous imposition”. and saying his constituents are “outraged”. No comment!
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...rship-cards-mandatory-face-mask-a9617866.html Tory party 'activists' showing their anger at the mandatory mask decision by cutting up their party membership cards. You really do have to question their intelligence. Since 2010 they have accepted, and apparently rejoiced in: *The massive national self harm that is Brexit; *The 10,000 deaths per annum from ‘austerity’ policies since 2010; *The racism and xenophobia of Windrush and hostile immigration policies; *The absolutely disastrous pandemic preparations and subsequent mishandling of the biggest public health and national security crisis in a century; *The 65,000+ resultant deaths including those of healthcare staff who were actually forced to work without PPE; *A government that has transferred millions of taxpayer monies to friends and no doubt themselves through dodgy procurement contracts *A government that has lied, is lying and will continue to lie to them for the foreseeable future. And they complain about having to wear a mask in a shop? Their stupidity knows no bounds...
And I wonder how many of these people are probably of a certain age where they are most at risk!? Sobering and worrying stat for anyone working in a shop or store: From the BBC. Mr Hancock told the Commons: "The death rate of sales and retail assistants is 75% higher amongst men and 60% higher amongst women than in the general population." Is that because retail staff have been at work throughout this as key workers so would have suffered more?
Who would look at Boris and see someone they would follow ‘over the top’ of the trenches? Just what sort of leader do they see? I refer the Right Honourable Gentleman to his answer: “Their stupidity knows no bounds...”
Go into any supermarket or store here and you will find that in addition to the screens to protect the cashiers, they are all wearing masks. Seeing pictures from the UK today and none of them had masks. I just don't understand why 85% of people here are using their common sense, while only 35% are in England. Comments from Scotland show that it is very different up there. I can only assume it has something to do with a clear message and proper leadership. Some comments today from Macron suggesting that there has been a slight increase in the R figure, pushing it up in a few places to 1.1 or 1.2. It is being watched closely and we may be told that masks will have to be worn in all enclosed spaces, although local solutions could be sought.
This is the Desmond Swine who thought it funny to black-face whilst dressIng up as James Brown for a Blues Brothers party, and then lack the humility to apologise? Oh, that Desmond Swine.
The trouble with people like him is that they are only thinking about them. The whole idea of masks is to prevent you possibly doing harm to the people that you come into contact with.
https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/othe...cent-of-them-voted-for-it/ar-BB16FlpM?ocid=sf As a supposed Remainer, Damian 'What Porn' Green obviously didn't try hard enough. "Green said he is "strongly opposed" to the government's plan to convert a 27 acre plot of land into a holding spot for up to 10,000 lorries because it is "unfair to Ashford". As an MP, perhaps he should have thought through the whole idea and consequences of Brexit and anticipated this. 60% of voters in Ashford voted for it, presumably because he was guilty of not providing them with all facts they needed to make an informed decision. He thinks a lorry park is 'unfair to Ashford' yet thinks a 'Trident park' is fair enough for Scotland - perhaps he'd like to take that particular abomination instead?
Five days ago Gove was denying that the Ashford site would be a lorry park, but now he says it will be, and Kent should brace itself for five more. We were of course informed that with wonderful technology there would be no need for any of it. Johnson tried to insert his Yes man into a critical parliamentary committee, and then throws a hissy fit when the MPs refuse to go along with it. The new Chairman promptly says he will issue the report into Russian interference in the election next week, something that Johnson has been trying to avoid. Now Raab is sent out to say there is evidence that Russia did get involved. This looks like a panic measure to get in before the report comes out.
TheEconomist All that extra money announced by govt last week not quite what it seems. https://ifs.org.uk/publications/14938… The "Rooseveltian" additional £5.5bn of capital spending represents an increase of precisely zero this year on Budget plans. Is a reallocation from one set of projects to another. The health secretary has announced an issue related to some swab testing kits that have been distributed in the UK. “We’ve identified some swabs, that are not up to the usual high standard that we expect, and we’ll be carrying out further testing of this batch,” said Hancock. “As a precautionary measure and while we investigate further, we’re requesting that the use of these Randox swab test kits are paused in all settings until further notice. Randox was given a £3M contract to supply these swabs without it going out to tender. It just happens that a certain Tory MP is paid £100,000 per year to work for this company advising and lobbying on their behalf.
How much at risk are these 2 million people who have been deemed to be extremely vulnerable from this now once their shielding ends ? Providing they are sensible and follow the guidelines will they just be very unlucky to get the virus or still at a great risk no matter what they do. Many will be going back to work - particularly in retail I suspect.
Plus encouraging people to go on public transport... Basically bug circulation machines.. Crazy... I feel for vulnerable people who need to travel to work in this way
