Good Morning. It's Tuesday 14th July, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Upgrades and Top ups to cost the Whites 19m upon reaching Promotion

Football finance expert Kieran Maguire has revealed how much Leeds United may have to pay if they earn promotion to the Premier League.

He said: “Because the Premier League wants itself to be seen on HD or 4K televisions, you’ve got to upgrade the floodlights. So, realistically I think Leeds will be looking at between £5-10m on that. You also have to upgrade the perimeter advertising areas and things of this nature.

“I went into the small print of Leeds’ accounts and, in terms of the relationship with the former owners, the only thing I could find out was a loan of around about £4m. Now, it could be that that loan becomes instantly repayable upon promotion. So, that’s something to be aware of, but that’s bearable.

“Leeds will have to pay transfer top-ups or add-ons of £5m to other clubs should they be promoted.

“I think the big one, and this did take me a little bit aback because this is probably more than we see at most clubs, is that according to Leeds’ accounts, if they are promoted, the bonus pool for staff, which I presume is mainly players and management, is a whopping £19m.

“So yeah, that money will effectively come out of next year’s income from the Premier League.”

Manchester City make mockery of FFP

Manchester City’s two-year Champions League ban has been overturned by the Court or Arbitration for Sport. It was decided that Citeh not disguise equity funding but failed to co-operate with UEFA, meaning a smack on the wrist and a 10m will suffice.

This will anger many clubs who have gone without, in order to stay with the FFP parameters.

If a club is big enough, and has the resources to hire the best lawyers in the land, can the governing bodies of football compete with this?

Wigan Athletic recently entered administration, and look set to be relegated if the mandatory 12 point deduction takes place. Whilst they are appealing the decision, if they had Citeh's lawyers, the outcome could embarrass the EFL.

What will happen to the likes of Derby and Sheffield Wednesday have have set out to deliberately deceive by bending the rules in their favour by selling their grounds back to themselves under the guile of a third party?

Meanwhile Uefa have announced a series of “emergency measures” to acknowledge that clubs competing in the Champions League and Europa League will temporarily be permitted to put more money into their clubs, to cover increased losses caused by the effects of Covid19.

Morning all. FFP was always a farce and thankfully will now be scrapped. Deducting Birmingham points last season while allowing the big clubs to do as they want. I think its typical that most income from promotion is well and truly spent nearly before a ball is kicked in the pl. The trick next is to become an established PL club and have the income annually without some of the outlay. Of course there's always the likelihood of massive investment if were on a different level which we will be

Really glad the Man City ban was overturned. By trying to implement stupid rules football is becoming more about creative accounting to be successful, nothing to do with fair play. Also think banning the best team in it devalues the competition as well as creating an unfair balance in the English league.

A very good morning everyone
Agree with Eire, the first two seasons are so important that we stay up, i am sure with the current squad & more importantly Bielsa, we are more than capable of that.
But to progress to the next level, ie a champions league finish, we are going to need investors with deeper pockets than Radz & co,hopefully when promoted we will surely at some point, catch the eye of some such investors.
The future of this club imo is certainly looking bright, and i am so looking forward to it.
MOT everyone.

Is it me or are the after match posts much better and more civil. Leedslover does not post his highlights package which is widely avaliable anyway. As a result endless pages of repetitive drivel and the slagging off of kalvin are not missed. Yes indeed for me mr ****tt stirrer is most welcome to stay away back in his own little world.

We're going to be much more civil when we're winning, everyone is happy and nobody is slating the players. Even Bamford is being left alone.

That's desperate timing, we just needed him for one more game (possibly two). I know Barnsley are crap and we should hockey them but it's a local derby and who knows what will happen. They will be thrilled that he's out, gives them a big boost running up to the game.

Morning all.

Bad news just in. Phillips out with knee injury, probably for rest of the season.

Phillip's will be a big miss. However, he is one of the lads who has not really hit top form since the restart. Might not affect us as much as it would if he was running the game every week.

White in to midfield, Ayling at CB, Douglas at LB and Dallas at RB. We don't need Berardi getting a dodgy red at this point.

Beradi will start bielsa likes him and dallas should stay at left back. You have proposed four changes cant see bielsa doing that.

White in the midfield, and Berardi in whites place, they won't let anyone down.
