I sort of agree, but knowing the way labour work, they probably would have outsourced important government contracts to major foreign based corporations, which does nothing to stimulate the economy.
You do realise that "mega" cuts are necessary though? I am a Tory, and I would be ****ing amazed if that shower of ****e, Labour, got in power next time, It just seems that the Tories always have to clear up Labour's ****.
New Labour spent their time cleaning up the mess Thatcher and Major had left. High unemployement, huge deficit, most of the country privatised. I know cuts need to be made, but they need to be made over time, you can't just pull the plug on loads of projects (that mostly affect the poorest in society strangely enough) and expect everything to be fine. Gordon Brown didn't cause the global recession, maybe precautions should have been taken to prevent the crash, but I remember the Tories advocating for more freedom to the bankers before it all went to ****. This country is still trying to get over Maggie's legacy. What this country needs is the housing market to crash so people can afford to buy a home, instead of all you old ****s laughing about the houses you bought 20 years for £50k that are now worth 6 times more than that
Mostly Business based areas, which is what my major political interests involve. Theres the new enterprise Zones, which are a great idea to try and entice foreign companies to set up shop over here, creating new jobs, The VAT increase brings in more money through taxes, whereas labour want to cut VAT. The proposed shakeup of the benefits system is also a good idea, as someone relying on benefits since being made redundant, i like the idea of monthly benefits, it spurs the lazy bastards who don't even attempt to look for jobs into doing just that; Looking for jobs. The NHS and Education have been failures, but i'll blame the useless ministers for that. More to follow as i remember their current policies.
How can you say that Labour wasn't capable of doing these things? They're right about cutting VAT too
What benefit would a VAT cut make though? it means the state brings in less money through tax, leaving us poorer.
Because it helps businesses by reducing the cost of labour/services/goods. The state makes more money if there's more work being done/things sold/... And George Osborne is a clueless twat
But the state still sells things with the Vat rate set at 20%. The increased cost of goods and labour is offset by the amount brought in by that extra 2.5% per product. Think how many products you buy daily, all with a 2.5% increase in VAT. If everyone in britain buys something each day, we easily offset any aditional labour fees. I agree with you about Osbourne, would rather have Ken Clarke in charge of the money.
This crap government are no different. At least the last government didn't take peoples jobs from underneath them & leave them in poverty. Also how the hell these crack pots expect to get everybody back into work employment when their is not enough jobs in the first place with the amount of reduncies firms are having to do because of the present government chopping everything left right & centre to save money. They all piss in the same pot as far as I am concerned.
No, the last government just bent over and let the banks, businesses and unions **** them and the economy up the arse. Whatever people think of the Conservative cuts, they are necessary and we have to blame Blair and Brown for that.
So you think it is right that everybody should suffer by losing their homes because this current Government want to cut, cut, cut in one big swoop without giving people a chance to paddle. I can understand some cuts but not everything in one go. Do you think it is right that local A & E hospitals, Fireman & Police in the northwest have been badly cut when we need them more than anybody. Before the conservatives pass the book on they want to take some blame themselves with the current problems. especially that most of britain could be on strike soon over pensions.
I agree with a previous poster who said that Education and Health could have been handled much better in spreading out the cuts but in other areas I agree with what the Tories have done especially in Welfare.
Ken Clarke's made a mess of being Justice secretary though, and his soft sentence on criminals are bloody ridiculous.
There's a thing I meant to post but forgot. What do people think of this argument to have the age at which juveniles can be held to account raised to 12 fro 10? Personally, I think it's a balls because it would mean that kids like Jamie Bulger's killers couldn't be held to account. It's another example of nannying gone mad.
