Should we settle for a point away from home?

Was disappointed with the game last night.

As we were leaving a discussion took place around us where 1 supporter felt that an away point was always good whereas another supporter felt that we needed to get 3 points off the team at the bottom of the table.

My feeling is that a point away is acceptable if we are picking up plenty of 3 points at home.

    Other thoughts?

I think we are all disapointed with the draw but on a positive, yes, Donnt may be rocket bottom of the Championship AT THE MOMENT, but who's to say at the end of the season they wont be pushing for a play off spot and then we'll look back and say it was a good point.

In Summary, if we drew all our away games and won all our home games we would be in the Premiership next season.

    2 things.....

Firstly, yes a point away from home is a good result, 11 points from the last 5 games is a good return, and 6th place at the end of September is a promising start.

Secondly however, the fact we've not scored more than 1 goal in a match this season is starting to be a cause for concern, so overall, happy with our position and results to date, but worried about our cutting edge and what impact this could have on the rest of the season

The fact that we are disappointed with an away point shows how far we have come with NP. A lot of supporters would love their team to consistantly pick up points on the road but we almost take it for granted now.
Well done Pearson and the management team.

1 point away is good but remember we just have to win one of 3 to get the same points...

Thats what I thought you meant! Suppose goal difference would be better with 3 draws (clutching @ straws!)

We've got a young team and we're still a work in progress. So a point away and 6th in the league is great.

The fact we're 6th and we can't score infact in my opinion only further shows the strength of the team.

If we start banging goals in, who knows...

Big If but surely it's only a matter of time before we score more than 1 goal in a game

Last night was a weird performance. Usually our problem with scoring comes from a lack of openings, we can't manage to carve a gap in the opposition's 11 man defence. But last night Donny were ****e and left some massive gaps for Brady, Cairney and Koren but we just ****ed about and wasted these openings. A few times we had the ball in their area in great positions but we were so wasteful we just kept playing awkward balls and worked our way away from the goal. Also I've never seen a team misplace so many passes as Donny did last night (Arsenal of the Championship indeed), we really let them off.

That sums up exactly why I felt disappointed. Overall (the Leeds performance excepted) I am happy with our position and prospects if we can start banging in a few goals.

its hard to disagree with your post but looking at the other results last night the tigers were not the only team to throw away a lead. but overall it was a good point gained. when you look at the tigers from blackpool to palace and now reading to doncaster there has been a big improvement. if they carry on like this by xmas time the team will be flying. overall i am very optimistic for this season and look at the bigger long term picture rather than a short term / sighted one.

depends who your playing, and the manner it comes..both bristol and donny where there for the taking imo..2 poor sides...and last night in particular, we protected a point more then going for 3...better teams would have gone for the kill, and thats why wel be nowhere near 6th come may.

A point away from home has to be considered a good result, providing you're getting results at home to complement these draws and probably the opposition. Both Bristol and Donny were there for the taking, but this is the Championship afterall where any team can beat the other and nothing should be taken for granted. The lack of scoring goals is becoming a worry, but i'm hoping that will be solved on saturday.

Think before the season started we would all have been happy to go 6th by late September . Both Brighton and West ham lost at home which shows in my opinion there's no such thing as an easy game and it could be even closer this season then last season.
