I'm now in the 'no we can't make it' camp after watching yesterday's debacle. The players probably are good enough to stay up but they've had the stuffing knocked out of them by McCann imo. He can't pick a team or make changes when it isn't working and he seems to be one of the most un-inspirational characters I've seen on a touchline. His performance in the Burnsy interview was embarrassing. Burnsy was doing his job quite well but anybody with any spunk would have had a go back at him, it was like watching a boxer hammering a punchbag to death. I don't know how much of this is due to Ehab's direct influence, I can't speculate, but either way the result is a broken football club which will probably struggle in L1 unless something changes. As always I'll be happy to be proven wrong! UTT!
Honeyman and McDonald are trying to do some of that. The only ones as far as I can see. Sorry, but JWD just isn't a captain; wrong call, but what do you do when you don't have options - McDonald was the obvious option but wrong timing to have given it to him. You are basically right though, except when saying the owners aren't interested. Of course they are, but they are useless and they are ****s.
Would surviving do us any favours? It'd be a bloody awful season propping the table up unless something radical changed. And that's from an optimist.
A couple of thoughts: One ray of hope could be that 3 other clubs would be worse than us due to financial difficulties, keeping us off the bottom. But then, it would hardly be enjoyable. Would it be any better if we went down? It would still probably be a "bloody awful season". Surely, the summer break must bring a rethink from the Allams, including to get rid of McCann. No manager can survive such a bad run (6 points out of 51). But then again, it's the Allams. The only real hope is that the Allams go. But I just don't see that happening, whether we stay up or go down.
I do agree however with the current financial world I think we’d be much better off staying in the Championship than dropping down to League 1. I think Leagues 1 and 2 are going to find it really difficult to restart as the money is so tight down there. They may even wait til crowds are back before another ball is kicked.
It would be funny ( not really ) but 3 clubs could be deducted 12 points and we still end up going down. That's bad.
I think Eaves should also be exempt from criticism lately. He hasn't had a chance at all. Wilks does try to take on people. I don't know how people can pick on Honeyman as he makes 100% effort. I know Lewis-Potter snatched at a chance when he had time to control the ball but I would have expected somebody to give him a call which, given we can hear what's being said, didnt seem to happen.
I was talking specifically about displaying leadership on the pitch (in answer to Evington's post). Eaves, like Magennis, gets next to zero service, but still, both have been close to dire. But that's a different debate.
I think McGann has been obsessed with having two wingers which tends to mean that we only have one striker. Burnsey was suggesting that Mcgennis and Eaves should play up front together which must make it harder for opposing defences.
Interestingly McCann didn't dismiss that suggestion. Made me think that we might finally see a different set up on Tuesday night.
Said it the other week after our abject performances that we will finish bottom, and it sadly looks that I could be correct. We are ****ed
In half a season City have put six points on the board. They were as safe as houses at the start of the year. Terrys record is abysmal. He should have gone before the lockdown. His interviews are like listening to clueless droning clown. He sits on the side offering no inspiration to the team. He has lost it completely and for the first time now I think we will not make it. He just can’t change things or alter anything to make a difference.
According to early reports McCann liked to play a kind of ‘counter attacking‘ game at Donny Rovers. Unfortunately once Bowen and Turbo left the party that idea quickly fell flat on its arse as neither McGennis or Eaves have the ability it seems to command a regular start in a side now hovering on the abyss.
