This just reminded me of the AVB days and I don't really want to remember them.
I have given Ndombele some stick on here so it's only fair to point out that he looked committed when he came on and also realised that the ball needs to be sent towards the opposition goal if we are to stand any chance of scoring. Just putting on lots of attacking players never works what we need most of all is control of midfield and a bit of creativity and we had neither.

I'm reminded of Woolwich when they never had shots because they were constantly trying to pass the ball into the net.. How many times do we get the ball on the edge of the area and not get a shot away? How many times do we run the ball , 3 on 3, and fail with the final pass? Aurier is either useless with his crosses or doesn't even attempt to cross. On one occasion he had a free run down the line, what does he do? stops and goes back.

I wouldn't blame Jose today unless those were his tactics. He brought on attacking substitutions. Kane, Son, Lucas and Lamela all on the pitch with N'Dombele behind, and still not shooting.

I can't lie I miss that magical Dane (minus his final bunch of months). ****ing majestic player to watch on his day. When you lose a player with these stats it's always going to be rough.

Dele hasn't kicked on as I'd hoped so I don't feel like he's massively missed. So inconsistent nowadays I'm not sure he'd have changed the game. He's not the same player he was in his first two seasons.

As for the FB situation nowadays... painful.

Also agree about judging Jose until he gets a full season with more of his own players, even if it is a tough watch seeing some his decisions/ style. I think he massively got it wrong today and we'll likely be heading into a crucial NLD with zero momentum and players who are gonna be ****ed.

Awful decision. The one United just got is even worse.

    But VAR though...

We are playing crap, nobody can deny it. But you can play crap and still pick up points if the officials are honest. You can argue whether we deserve it or not, but with even refereeing we could easily have five more points than we do now - yes I really think we would have gone on to beat Sheff U if Kane's goal had stood, and if we had got our deserved pen tonight I think Bournemouth morale would have gone being so early in the match. As I say, dispute it on the merits of the performance if you want, but honest refereeing gives you a chance you might not otherwise get. And with 5 more points we'd be 6th above Wolves. I'm also not sure if the Dier tackle on Fernandes was a penalty to get ManU into the match in our first back after the restart. Excuses? No, just asking for the even treatment. Not even asking for the free penalties that others are regularly given, only for the pundits the next day to say how well they played.

Agreed. A lot of our issues are due to confidence due to a long series of poor performances. A couple of ill deserved wins would be a major tonic for that. But we are getting bad calls against us instead. The first penalty against Man U was arguable and we would probably win without it. That would have ended their good run and could have started ours. VaR should be used to stop poor decisions deciding matches. Instead it is making it worse.

Small point , the Utd penalty was on Pogba. ( irrelevant to the point you are making ).
    Just tonight example.
'They' say ''what difference does it make'' we still had 85 minutes to score, but plenty games finish 1-0 and it doesn't matter which minute you score. It would also have forced Bournemouth to attack more. Just like United are gifted a penalty against Villa, which changes the momentum. ''They didn't need the penalty because they still scored 3'' but that was after the gift.

It will be a lot more than 5 points over the whole season, we`ve had a 6 point swing with United alone, after gifted penalties for United in both games. Then you`ve got all the other penalties not given to us, all the red cards not given to our opponents and ridiculously disallowed goals etc, it all adds up to a lot of points. Key decisions can affect the entire flow and dynamic of a game, we`ve been on the wrong end of way too many, which seems to be a recurring theme for Spurs.

Billy is just envious of how United players can commit the foul and get the penalty

    tbh it’s an interesting phenomenon

No need for the face palm. There is research that shows playing in red is an advantage.

I don’t think a few lucky or against the grain wins will do much to be honest. I just think we’ve gone too stale and have too many average to poor players at the club to realistically achieve our ambitions.

We don’t have a top four calibre defence any more.
We don’t have a top four calibre midfield.
Son continues to have spells of brilliance and mediocrity and Kane has yet again had injuries and is currently receiving little to no service. Combine all of that and it’s not really a surprise to me to see where we are in the table.

For sure, there has been dodgy decisions and you could say we’ve had more than our fair share of bad luck but ultimately we’re just not very good either, or more to the point, not good enough for where we want to be.

I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before but go back to 16/17 and look at our XI and then compare it to now.

    Hugo
    Walker, Toby, Jan, Rose
    Wanyama, Dembele
    Son, Eriksen, Dele
    Kane

At that particular period, we had an XI of players who were easily in the top four best of their position in the country. We arguably had the best XI in the league that year, we just lacked the squad depth to have seen us over the line.

Fast forward to now, I’d say only Hugo (just!), Lo Celso, Son (although he needs a massive rocket) and Kane would make the XIs of all or some of the other top four/ top six sides. Four out eleven starters... Damning.

Jose hasn’t really helped matters either, his style of play can be hard to watch when you’re not winning games and depending on what side of the fence you sit, his treatment of certain players may or may not irritate you but ultimately I will still reserve judgement on him until he has more of his own players. He is dealing with a team that is nowhere near where it used to be.

Personally I just can’t wait for the season to end.
