but if they were asymptomatic carriers how would anyone know if they had the virus unless they had been tested . So that would mean you feel ill on Sunday and straight away ring for a test will it really have been carried out and results by today in 3 different cases . Call me a cynic but i have a few doubts about that <whistle>

    Customer had their results yesterday (Monday);

The Fox and Hounds in Batley, West Yorkshire, said it would be closed until further notice after receiving a call from a customer on Monday to say they had tested positive for coronavirus.

I see your point btw <ok>

It doesn’t matter mate, we’ve got a ‘world leading’ track and trace system in place that’ll be able to control any localised outbreaks, as it was promised for the start of June before we opened back up again.

    Oh hang on......

He won’t get away with it this time. Can’t even see The Mail playing along with this particular fantasy, seeing as 50% of their readership are leafing though care home brochures at any given time.

He’ll wait for the meme to appear on his Facebook. Obviously there remains a large body of people who are completely beyond help.

But, as we are seeing with Trump, there comes a point beyond which, the more you appeal directly to that demographic, the more you repulse everyone else.

tbf the amount of testing is now giving much better info on the actual amount of the virus in the population and allowing for hotspots to be picked up quicker it just tool a long time to get to this point .

They are spouting some right bollocks... particularly Hancock. You trying to tell me that not one of the renowned medical experts in SAGE ever raised the subject of asymptomatic transmission as something of a possibility? ... the reality is that the Government foisted Cummings on SAGE as a filter and thereby ended up with politically biased rather than clinically robust policies <grr>

The testing means little in an opened up society, without being able to isolate the contacts of the positive cases within 48 hours.

The daughter of my neighbours across the road moved into the care home she works at for the whole of March, April and May. What a despicable arsehole Johnson is, and the level of duplicitous scum like Cummings that he surrounds himself with.

personal view is that the a sizeable minority of care home staff have made a much bigger sacrifice than NHS staff and did so with little protection .<applause>

but once this has passed we will all go back to refusing to fund personal care which is why nothing changes .

umm disagree with that as at least it gives indication of problem areas and does allow for asymptomatic carriers to be picked up . Even if all contacts cannot be traced / refuse to co operate at least the majority are and that has to be an improvement .

Khan is still getting the blame for the measures the Government forced on TfL as a condition of the recent bailout.

Only the majority aren’t being traced & only a fraction of those potentially exposed are being contacted. The increased availability of testing helps identify confirmed cases but without an efficient track & trace it’s stable door and horse territory in an opened up society

    well according tp NHS figures
    Between 18 June and 24 June 2020:

    • 297,427 people were tested for coronavirus (COVID-19) under pillars 1 and 2 in England
    • of these, 5,185 people (1.7%) tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19)
    • 6,183 people had their case transferred to the contact tracing system1
    • of these, 4,639 people (75.0%) were reached and asked to provide details of recent close contacts. 3,497 people (75.4%) provided details for one or more recent close contacts and 1,142 people (24.6%) said that they had no recent close contacts
    • 1,383 people (22.4%) could not be reached. An additional 161 people (2.6%) could not be reached at all because no communications details were provided for them
As a result of this, between 18 June and 24 June 2020:

    • 23,028 people were identified as close contacts. Of these 16,804 people (73.0%) were reached and asked to self-isolate
so maybe not a majority but still a significant chunk which has to be better than what preceded it .

I note those stats omit the key measure, those being, how many of those people were reached within 48 hours of the positive test being confirmed? Call me cynical but I suggest there’s a reason for that omission.
