I don't get the you are nothing without Rooney stuff, imo Rooney has never been a great player and I'm sure that's debateable but my point being Utd have won things without Rooney playing well in the past.
Ah people just love to bang that drum, even when it makes no sense. It was our defence and midfield that were the problem last night, not the strikers - Welbeck and Giggs linked perfectly for the first two goals and carve the Basle defence open regularly. But sadly that doesn't fit in with a great many people's somewhat narrow view of football
1 man team? You lot were saying that when Cantona, Beckham, Ronaldo, left and how many titles have we won since.
Hoddle Is A God seems to show a lot of WUM traits. I shall be keeping an eye on his posts on our board in future before deciding whether to start a motion to have him banned from our board. Sensible arguments are fine. But this "one man team" bollox really isn't needed. And phrases like "rogered silly" reduce any negligible credibility he had to begin with.
It is fk all to do with rooney playing or not. Since when does Rooney play CB, unfortunately when you have a ball watcher like Rio, you must have a Vidic in there too, a new young lad yet to properly learn his trade just wasn't up ot it on the night mind you they got no help from the middle
rio was awful last night i would think smalling and vidic a best pairing at centre back now, plus in midfield we dont have a truly world class player like keane to dominate the game, we will not be able outscore teams all season
Amazing that the delusional folk actually think that United are useless without Rooney, said the same with Ronaldo and look whats happened..
This. Jones had a bad game last night. So what? It will happen time to time. The lad is young and is top quality. Vidic will come back soon (hopefully) but Rio looked totally out of sorts.
I agree completely, Jones was merely showing some inexperience and has otherwise been excellent this season. Young players like him will have the odd blip. It wouldn't be surprising if it was Rio's uncertain performance that provoked such nervousness. Definite first choice defence for me is; Smalling, Vidic, Jones, Evra. With Ferdinand, Evans and the Da Silva's as back up players it hardly suggests a weak squad. We've got two good young goal keepers too so not at all worried by last night.
Have we have the same 4 defenders for 2 games in a row yet this season? I cant remember us doing so which explains our defensive problems for me. No stability, young players coming and going and playing various roles with little or no experience to help them.
Once. We played Evra, Jones, Evans and Smalling against Spurs and then against Arsenal. We're not helped by the fact that pretty much every change we have to make to the defence is forced by injury, thus making it almost impossible for us to choose the right defenders for a game, or to build a pairing at the back. We also really missed Evans and Vidic last night - Evans isn't great on the floor but he is often more dominant in the air than Rio and Jones imo, and all three of their goals game from failure to deal with balls in the air. Still, if we were going to have a **** game at the back I'd rather it be in a European tie that shouldn't affect the group rather than in a PL game where three points could prove vital come the end of the season.
What like two offside goals and a dodgy penalty? I don't think you have thought your statement through before engaging your fingers. Pilchard.
