But there was no model, they appointed from outside the club for Johnston the only succession was Heckingbottom and then they appointed outside the club again. Bit like we appointed Milen after GJ to outsider to Milen. No succession or plan just appointed from within. Hardly Liverpool succession in the 70’s 80’s is it.
I would go back to your mate and explain that memory using Wiki is hardly Sheldon Cooper.
Interesting fact about Wiki is anyone can contribute. I have even contributed on something in there.

    Genuine question why Lowe?
He does like attacking football, and won two promotions but I got that from OTIB. But apart from that I know nothing about him. The Crowley Brothers are the same but they’ve struggled at Huddersfield.

    Quite right Loaths.
    Have a word.

    And Rod, fair question.
    Hope Ashton gets it right.

But Loaths and Rod join me in this beautiful Monday morning without Lee Johnson.
    Isn't life wonderful ?

Fantastic for you, but as you imagine I'm not celebrating in the way you are! I await with caution, the replacement..:emoticon-0125-mmm:.....let's hope it doesn't end in tears!!
My honest opinion.......LJ took on a massive challenge coming to us, with all the expectations especially with the hatred some had for him..(which was pathetic by the way) <doh>
Possibly his lack of experience let him down, but it would have been a good learning curve for him.........he won't be out of work for too long.....maybe he'll be back one day,...............................................................................that would be funny!! <laugh>

i'm saying they are likely to have more knowledge, after all they are a worldwide media company, with a multi billion pound sports franchise.

Yet you champion LJ? whose trick is longish undefeated streaks and even longer winless streaks. Hughton has a better overall win ratio to Johnson (and that includes a poor time at Norwich) and he has actually won promotions to the premiership and has managed in the premiership, his win ratio at Newcastle was 55% and at Brighton 40% and please don't talk about performances, ours have been dog **** since January for 3 straight years.

Some managers are a means to an end. Cotterill got us out of 1st division swamp, streaky Johnson (a name he coined for himself) made us competitive for half of each season, but kept us in the championship and maybe Hughton is the man to get us up and then we can employ, Pep, Jose, Poch or even bring SAF out of retirement.

Fantastic for me and the opposite for you.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him back because I can't see anyone employing him.
Others will see his record differently to the way you do or for that matter, me.

I don't deny that I'm a LJ advocate. I've been supporting City since my dad took me in 1977 and in that time we've mainly been languishing around League 1 in its various disguises, normally doing quite well but still a League 1 side and when we did manage to get to the Championship never really looked like we would stick around for too long (even when his Dad took us to a game away from the Premiership). We are now an established Championship side and I feel that we are probably in the best position (on and off the pitch) that we have ever been in my 40 odd years of watching whether that is down to Lansdown, LJ, luck or a combination of all 3 remains to be seen. However I think we have now reached a crossroads in our development, this next manager will have the structure in his place to kick on and so needs to be someone who can do that. The problem with that I can't see anyone that I really fancy out there to do this. I really hope it wont be someone like Ryan Lowe, he's done nothing wrong but its a different ball game managing in League 2 than the Championship. I don't really want Chris Hughton either but I can see the reasoning behind the clamour and I would accept him (I'm sure Steve would be relieved to hear that ) I think to kick on we will need a manager with a bit of prestige, someone Championship and Premier league players can relate to in order to get these sort of signings. Going for someone with a good CV in League 2 and even League 1 football in my opinion would not be the way to go.

I agree to a point, Hughton may well have a good season in him and if he comes here I will back him all the way.....I personally think he's a manager that runs out of ideas pretty quickly, (I have many Norwich friends, who hated most of his time there) but hopefully in that short time, he gets us up.
As for me championing LJ. Like I mentioned in a different thread, I think maybe his lack of experience lost him his way....had the ideas I believe but struggled to implement them......I also believe we will struggle to get a manger in that loves the club more than he did..I admit, I'm a little disappointed how it's worked out as we were not in any danger of losing our championship status and maybe could have been given another season, but hey ho it's not worked out..we move on....Lets hope in the right direction!!

The model was and it was stated they had secured LEE, HECKINBOTTOM and one maybe 1/ 2 others had a regime going on throughout the club that 1 piece of the jigsaw goes AWOL they are prepared... unfortunately Lee was enticed away and so was Heck's … Around the time the club owner sold out? new owner had different plan and after a very short stint of a caretaker brought in Morais ..NOT HAD TIME TO CHECK

ps didn't mean writing or adding... meant paid in £50 …..

See, I get the Hughton & McCarthy bit although not a fan of either, but people happy with Names from lower leagues Flynn & Ryan Lowe, with no championship experience ,WTF....I don't get it?........We just sacked one with over 4 years consistently competing in it........so I know, let's try going backwards! <doh>

I totally agree with this, if we are looking at candidates like John Terry, Ryan Lowe or Steve Gerrard why bother sacking LJ, I geninely would rather he had stayed, we want someone with the ability to lift City out of the Championship like Sam Allardyce, Chris Houghton, Mick McCarthy, all would all take us in a different direction, they are all experienced winners, 2 other names I wouldn't mind are Slaviasa Jokanovic or Mark Robins.

Well said Ashton, he was hated on here right from the start and some of the vile comments were uncalled for, we all try our best in life and sometimes our best isn't good enough, LJ best wasn't good enough time to move on.

Have not posted on here since last week - so apologies if this repeats anything

The performance against Cardiff on it's own was not bad enough to sack him (thought we were a bit unlucky). So that means they must have been thinking about this in advance. Therefore one assumes that they have a plan and know who they want.

They said no further comment until after the game on Wednesday - so lets see!

Slaviasa Jokanovic is in Qatar employed last year, so you would expect him to be on big money. Plus the compensation would be a bit to release him. But good choice.
I would would not mind Mick McCarthy or Hughton. Would prefer Jokanovic but don’t think we would pay for him.
Steven Gerard may not be everyone’s choice but Sky would be ****ing over Steven Gerard’s Bristol City and could give us the publicity rather than being seen as little Bristol City. Hard to judge him in the two horse race against the more experienced horse. But saying that Lampard at Derby was good and got loanee’s when he wanted them.
Robins has a poor record in the championship, and as much as reading into Lowe is impressive in his mentality I just don’t feel is the right time. But no one really expected Eddie Howe or Sean Dyche to have anything about them.

Another one I would not mind is Chris Coleman. He may bring Bale in :emoticon-0140-rofl:
