A bit early I know, but I'm at work (yay finally employed) and its really boring (boo work). Therefore lets start warming up for Saturday. Line-ups? Tatics? Opposition danger men? Intelligent input from the other JA? go go go
The Hammer Solly, Taylor, Morrison, Wiggins Wagstaff, Stephens, Hollans, Jackson (Capt) Hayes BWP Subs Sullivan Hughes Cort Green Kermit Just a guess
You beat me to it JA I think the line up will be the same, maybe with Waggy dropped to the bench for Green but wouldn't be surprised if Waggy started again, one last chance to show he should start. It's going to be a tight game, i've already said 2-2 and i'm sticking with that, i'd be over the moon with a point Will be there for my first away game this season so here's hoping we don't get a spanking!
I feel oddly nervous about this game.. Sheffield hasn't always been a kind place for us! I expect the same line up, and as much as I have been an advocate for Green to start, my head tells me that Waggy deserves one more chance at RM... so much so I will put a bet on him for first goalscorer if he starts. How are you guys traveling up? Got my train tickets this morning, £70 for 2 of us. Thought that was a steal!
That was cheaper then we could find super, we gave up on trains and are instead driving up and staying the night (£25 each for a b&b) might as well make a weekend out of it
Green could start if 100%. BWP may be rested if he took a bad knock, with Waggy at CF. Don't know Hollands' domestic situation. He was poor on Saturday and may not be getting enough sleep. A pity neither Pritchard nor Alonso are fit to start. Hughes could start instead of Hollands but I would prefer to see Jackson move inside and Evina at LM. Shouldn't weaken us defensively and might provide some left-wing thrust we have never had. Kermorgant won't start but his two good cameos should give CP confidence to bring him on earlier if things aren't going our way, maybe soon after half-time. Having said all that, and knowing CP, it could be "no change" if they are all fit to play. I would be delighted with a point but I think this will be our first defeat as Sheffield Utd did not play midweek, whereas ours was a tired performance. Yes, we gave it a real go in the second half at MK, but not in a controlled way. By attacking more we allowed MK several scoring chances. We were lucky to come away with a draw.
Good city to go out in- loads of nice bars/pubs near division and west street. I had the temptation to stay over, as thats normally what we do, but since you put the xbox in my head I'm investing money in that rather than a hotel. So you have to have several sherbets for me now
Yeah we've been out there a few times, looking forward to it, not sure on the servel sherbets mind, can't be facing the long 4 hours return car trip with a heavy hangover i'll have one or two though
Yep I agree with AllHell Green isn't ready/match-fit to start yet so hope we stick with the same team
For this match, Waggy and Hayes should remain in the starting eleven. The arrival of Green and Kermit will place rockets under their arses. These selection dilemmas are great.
Drop Hannibal Hayes and watch BWP's goals dry up But yeah I agree this might work well as both Wagstaff and Hannibal do need to improve their performances .. Waggy more than Hannibal
The first eleven have done fantastically well so far but it sounded from the commentary as though they were outplayed at times last night. So it's time for CP to look at how he can use the squad to freshen things up, a bit of light tinkering might be needed.
FHB, the text I got after the first half finished said 'Slaughtered but still standing'. Barring unforeseen circumstances, I'm going up for this one although I've never seen us win at Bramall Lane. I'll be driving, as rail prices from here are a bit silly. As far as the team is concerned, unchanged will suit me, with the same bench as Tuesday. Been busy this week, so only just seen Hayes' beautiful flick on Saturday - we drop him at our peril at the moment, but your comment about Green and Kermorgant is dead right, Ponders. Competition for places is going to keep this team razor sharp.
This should reduce the price of the afternoon's entertainment... http://www.sufc.co.uk/page/Promotions/0,,10418~2465828,00.html ...although I think that might not be what the actual finished article eventually looks like.
I really hope Hughes is never needed to start a game in the middle of the park. Really was woeful against both preston and reading, very slow, no idea how to play CM and leaves his partner with too much to do, dragging down thier perfomance too. If we have to rest Hollands, Jackson has got to move into the centre, with Evina on the left, or even Waggy with Green on the right. Mark my words that Hughes should never be relied on for more than 5/10 minute cameos and an experienced head around the squad.
What a goal! Just seen it on the BBC website and what a cracker it is. Going to have to change my team selection to allow Green to start, assuming he's fit. This is going to mean that Wagstaff drops to the bench - sorry about this, but we need to have a distinct edge on Saturday and I think Green could provide it.
Green turned his defender like a b!^€h. What I liked about the cross too was that Green didn't feel the need to run down a blind alley, put his head up and saw Kermit was ready there and then.
Another advantage of Green is that his long throws are lower than Hollands (who tends to loop them into the box) which causes greater problems for defenders to deal with especially with Kermit in there now
