I actually said some time ago on a thread about fans may want us to lose so they have a reason to get on Bruce's back. Well it has happened - no true Sunderland fan can ever WANT the club to lose a game - this club is about more than Steve Bruce - if you want us to lose then go support them up the road and leave us alone

As much as it pains me to say this (I'm SAFC through and through and have been for many years) if losing a few games brought about the end of Bruce as the manager of our club I'd accept it with open arms. To me there is an air of inevitability about this whole scenario and it would take a miracle for Bruce to fully regain the support that would create the atmosphere of the early days at the SOL. I feel empty when I go to watch SAFC at the moment and I havn't felt like this under any other manager, not even McCarthy because atleast we knew that his hands were tied by a lack of disposable funds.

Appointing Bruce was a mistake from the outset due to him being a Newcastle supporter. This was only ever going to serve to amplify the frustration of any poor sequence of results and in general make the task of unifying the supporters very difficult because there will always be a core of supporters who just don't like the idea of a Newcastle supporter managing our club, irrespective of his abilities. However it has become abundantly clear that his abilities are limited to say the very least and one glance over his managemental resume would indicate absolutely nothing to suggest he will ever achieve anything with SAFC.

How many games did we lose at home including the back end of last season? I lost count... Was it about 10 out of 12 games? When was the last time a real manager who at the same time had the amount of money that Bruce had to spend created a record as poor as that? I'm unable to think of any, at any club.

Considering how poor we have been since January I think it is very poor conduct of Bruce to go and watch Newcastle... He may aswell of pulled on a Newcastle shirt... His patronising comments towards our fans is a disgrace and the whole vibration of the club feels completely negative. If losing a few games brings about a new beginning, a beginning with relief and hope then as a supporter of SAFC, I think that will be for the best.

The truth is if we win on saturday he gets another 2 weeks here, then Arsenal away on SKY tv another humiliation there, and then when he gets sacked(or walks out which is unlikely) another 'northern' manager will probably be appointed again!. What worries me is if clubs come in for players like O 'shea in Jan and we are in the bottom 3 then, there might be a few more merceneries at our club. We seem to be heading back to the mid nineties again where Quinn and co cannot see what is going to happen, and the attendances are dropping like the 15 point season and there might only be 30,000 there on sat.
And another question is how much money has actually been put into SAFC in the past 2 years?.

All these tea drinkers sound asthough they are in denial... I cannot hear the music, are you able to hear the music? la de la de la all the way to another relegation battle, if not relegation itself. Time will tell....

I understand your frustration but as soon as the game kicks off you'll want Sunderland to win. I'm resigned to the fact that Bruce won't be sacked this side of December.

I can't believe anyone wanting there team to lose
just goes to show how desperate some people are to get rid of the manager who has taken us to the highest position in the league for a couple of seasons.

It may be time for him to move but some things on here said about the man i just find unbelievable.

I totally agree with you bigjohnsafc... 1 defeat for the good of the club is a small sacrafice to make rather than Bruce (who I don't hate) getting a stay of execution for beating a crap side. The worst thing to happen was not only beating Stoke but hammering them.
