I was thinking bloody hell, that cannabis must've been strong!

I just re-read it. Comm writing things like "I just lost a good mate at work" and "no more"

On a serious note, wtf is all that about. Someone has a little knock and they call drug testers in?

About a grand plus damage mate.....It's becoming standard now..Accident, piss test....

Which sucks, as only about 10% of us drive machinery....

That's pretty standard these days I think mate with any accident with machinery. Presumably it's insurance based.

I used to work for a Housing Association years ago, working with the most vulnerable tenants to help them keep their tenacies and get a foot back on the rung. I remember they wanted to bring in random drug testing for the workers, as their argument was that people working with drug addicts shouldn't be taking drugs themselves.

We just laughed at them and told them that they would lose their entire team if they did that.

It's surprised me a bit, maybe because it suggests there's a problem there, or it's quite a common thing these days?

I never went into work stoned but it would've been in my system from the night before... or even a few days before. I think it can be tested in your hair for up to 3 months.

I remember back in my Uni days I used to do a part time job in a pizza place. We all used to get mashed after work (gone midnight). The manageress asked me one day whether I was puffing. I told her as long as I was clean when I walked in and by the time I left, what I did in my own time was none of her business. Guess you can't get away with saying that now <laugh>

People in manual labour who take drugs is definitely a common thing I'd say mate, I've lost a job for failing a piss test myself. Like I say though when it comes to machinery I think it's all around the insurance.

And yeah it varies from employer to employer, though I'm inclined to agree with you that as long as your sober when you rock it up it shouldn't really be their business. Cannabis is in piss for minimum of two weeks I think but might be wrong there.

When I was in sales I used to have a boss who'd give me a bottle of Moretti and a line of gear on a Friday afternoon if I'd had a good week! <laugh>

Yep happens in my industry too together with random drug and breath tests. Had a couple of our guys put through a full investigation a few years ago while onsite.

To be fair he did fall asleep at the wheel and crash into the main oil pipeline while carrying 10litres of hydrofluoric acid.

When I worked as a chef, we'd start each shift with a line of charlie. Was the only thing that got me through some nights.

****ing road to ruin that life though. Up at 5:30am into work for the breakfast shift, and a couple of pints hair of the dog from the night before. Mildly pissed by lunchtime, then prep up for the evening shift. Couple of hours sleep, line of beak another couple of pints then full tilt until 1am. Then up to the bar for after hours. I used to sleep on the couch in the bar some evenings as it wasn't worth going home.

He has a penchant for dickhead dogs. His current dog is also a bell end.
