Why discuss a game from a year ago when there was a contentious one in the most recent game? The Man City player that made the foul that was reviewed for a penalty (but a freekick was given) should have been sent off, he was the last man. Irrelevant though as we'd already lost.
I agree that last year is past and gone, but as the Kompany tackle was brought up anyway... And I asked the question why it wasn't a penalty - the foul started outside the area, for sure, but Mane was standing on the line as he went over. I remember a tackle by Carra some years back at Reading that probably started even further out, but as the Reading player got his foot on the line while Carra was still in contact with him it was - rightly- given a pen. I too asked the question on the night against City that if it wasn't a pen, then why wasn't he sent off? Anyway, it would have made little difference - the way our forwards were playing we'd have probably missed the pen anyway, even if it was from six yards and their goalie had to stand by the corner flag.
Well, if we played City for the next six games I'm sure he and Mane would get plenty of chances - not sure, going on Thursday night, whether they'd score any though.
Think he did in the second half, and turned an attempted curler into the top corner into a tame, ten-yard back bass.
