I ended going over to one of the lads who was hosting a poker tournament last night so didn’t put the bet on. Lost £200. Wish I had have stayed in and put the bet on tbh.
We caught them cold and had a good first ten minutes or so but been clueless since. Was a horribly soft goal to concede but it was coming. They’ve got far more to play for and it looks that way.
I thought that was a good bet, bad luck. I was wondering, if you had thought about trying it, as a trixie? What were the single market odds? It would cost a lot more obviously but for one double, would still payout at around 3-1 total stake.
A double would have paid out about 11/1. I do Trixie’s but only if I’m betting big on something I really fancy. I just had a bet last night to keep me interested tbh.
Yes, I meant 3-1 for one double, as your total outlay would be £20. So £60 would be 2-1. Still nice. I used to serve a punter, who did 6 folds on btts and winning team. He used to back it up with 5 folds, incase one let him down, 25p a go, 1.75 the lot He got all 6 up once and got about 2900 pounds. I gave him my bestest smile paying him out and got 50 squid tip!
So it looks like over the coming years, there could be legislation to ban football betting, what's people's thoughts on that? There is no intention to interfere with horse racing betting. Leagues and clubs, will be expected to move away from football betting over a period of around three years as I understand, in the same way that smoking advertisement was removed from sport. The reason for this is its deemed football never was originally a betting market in the same way as horse racing, and the concerns are with football betting it appeals to a younger client, which adds to debts and suicide rates. I'm for the banning of it and as they intend, leave horse racing alone.
I enjoy a tenner here and a fiver there and am fortunate to not have an addictive personality. Just as I’ll have a couple of glasses of wine during an evening and don’t feel compelled to neck four bottles. I don’t agree in outright banning it. Ban the advertising by all means and absolutely hammer firms not doing enough to dissuade underage or addicted gamblers but I don’t think prohibition is ever the answer.
My mistake, not an outright ban, but a ban on sponsorship and advertising, with a review of licensing... https://insidersport.com/2020/07/02/lords-report-recommends-gambling-sponsorship-ban/
By all means ban the advertising for me, also insist that any U.K. licensed bookmakers operate from U.K. offices and therefore pay U.K. tax. As opposed to the current situation where they’re mostly based offshore and pay next to **** all from the majority of their revenue. What should be banned outright are online ‘slots’ that are nothing but payout regulated computer programmes that guarantee a set margin for the operator. Quite why people play those things is truly beyond me. I enjoy a bet, but I only ever bet on things I have decent knowledge of, and only ever bet with money I can afford to lose. As it goes, the bookies have been operating on a loss on my accounts for over 2 years.
I forgot you were a semi pro tbh. You work on dead cert odds discrepancies iirc don’t you? A mate of mine is the son of an old Skool course bookie, he’s either been banned or restricted to meaningless stakes on virtually every site available.
