Nketiah wasn't ditched though was he ? He got word from Arsenal that he'd be in the first team squad with opportunites to play. In short he ran back to where his heart is and in doing so left us in the lurch. And please don't blame lack of opportinities, he replaced Bamford at HT against Sheff Wed (a) at the end of October and was then he was picked to start against QPR (h) the following week. Mysterioulsy he injured himself after training the night before the match and was then unavailable for a month. When he returned to fitness Bielsa used him as substitute throughout December before he selected him to start consecutive matches against Birmingham (a) and WBA (a). After which on the 2nd January he returned to Arsenal at their/his insistance not ours.
Bielsa suggested before the Cardiff game we might be trying something different. Maybe we've ditched the triangles for circles
To be fair to Bielsa, what he said was; This is a situation that is new/different for everybody in football. He never actually said we would employ different tactics, just that playing after a 3 month break and without a proper pre season etc would be different.
If Nketiah had played either 50 or 60 percent of games at Leeds, Arsenal would not have been able to recall him
Afternoon all... Talk Sport this morning, Bamford missing another clear chance was brought up along with them all being amazed a club of Leeds size and ambition not having a number 9 who can score more goals.
Wigan enter administration. 12 point deduction incoming. Sees them move bottom of the Championship. Chaos. Their next game..... Brentford away.
They are the best form team in the league, 6 wins 1 draw are Wigan, they now need a result big time at Brentford on Saturday, come on Wigan.
International Entertainment Corperation plc (IEC) owners of Wigan until 29th May 2020 announced to the HK stock exchange back in November 2019 their intention to sell the entire issued share capital of the Wigan Athletic Group to Next Leader Limited (NLL). IEC's majority shareholder Dr Choi Chiu Fai Stanley intends to act as the limited partner of the fund. NLL (limited company) will set up a fund and the fund will purchase all shares from IEC plc...this sale was duly completed on 29th May 2020. On 1st July 2020 NLL (limited company) announced that Wigan Athletic Group had been placed into administration.
Nketiah made 17 league appearances (19 all comps) for Leeds from a possible 26 championship matches played before his departure. Those are the facts...roughly 65% of league games. Oh and did I mention he was injured for a month and didn't arrive until after the season had started.
Ell is the speaker of truth and justice Arsenal could recall Eddie Nketiah from Leeds loan in January while Bristol City lurk Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah joined Leeds on loan in the summer transfer window but could return to north London after just five months at Elland Road. Hot academy prospect Nketiah joined Leeds on a season-long loan in August to gain more experience in men’s football. But the 20-year-old has not made one league start under Marcelo Bielsa this season, being limited to 205 Championship minutes from the bench. According to The Athletic, Arsenal have a stipulation in Nketiah’s deal which allows them to recall the player in January if he fails to hit a certain level of game-time by then.
... at how many minutes per game? So who’s seen the loan contract and the terms of any recall? Not me. it’s semantics, he got a mystery injury when due to be picked, and when he did play, we didn’t seem to play better with him. He’s just chalk and cheese to bamford. Quick, plays off the last defender, sharp finisher. Hold the ball up? No, press, not really. Think he’ll be a cracking player in another set up, but a strange signing as not a like for like replacement for bamford style wise - was he brought in to mix it up, to play 2 up front? Dunno, but not really suited for bielsa ball... just my opinion.
