It was you that called for re-instatement of a general political thread. What we have now is simply a thread designed just to whinge about the Tory government, pathetic.

It is important to keep a sense of perspective concerning the UK compared to other nations, especially those in Europe, at this exciting Brexit time.

They probably had to use German photos in order to have relatively modern pictures of conscripted soldiers BB. Germany had national service up until about 15 years ago. In the whole of Europe I think only Greece and Turkey still have it and pictures from either of those two countries may not have been usefull for the purpose.

There is no doubt the Chinese were guilty of withholding information at a crucial time which has resulted in hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths.

It is the Tory government which is managing the UK response to Corona - and governments are there to be judged based on their performance. Having said that, I have restricted my criticisms of them only to their dealings with this corona crisis, and I think that applies to other posters as well. It is true that I considered the closing of political threads as a result of one poster to be a mistake and I would stand by that - any other forum would have got rid of the poster ie. yourself. One last footnote - this has nothing to do with Brexit !!!!!

You are incorrect.. This thread is not about the Tory government it is about a terrible disease which is killing thousands in the UK... and the govt has to manage that. And yet again you emotionalise as click bait....

    Well here is your solution
    1) Stop posting on this thread
    2) Start your own thread. Do it..... Like others on these boards.. and you never have to post here again.... they choose not to.

This is the attitude why this forum has an unbalanced political make up. Your pretentious liberal views are not what you bring to this forum, you cannot stand to listen to alternative views, which incidentally are those most common in the UK.

Meanwhile I'm waiting for the call to cook for the homeless again. From what I hear this government is treating them so well at the moment there is no need for volunteers such as myself.

Maybe someone can help to explain the latest development in the Leicester coronavirus spike. The government says that it wants to retain the current regulations in the city rather than relax them as in the rest of the country. So the current regulations aren't working we can assume. What is going to change if you simply keep them?

I think you will find the number of deaths is largely down to each country's response to the crisis. It doesn't seem very intelligent to blame China for these vastly different responses.

Without the criminal actions of the Chinese there would not be the vast majority of the deaths. They obviously realised the economic effect it would inflict on the west whilst vigorously enforcing control at home with any means.

There is also no coincidence their aggressive expansive foreign policies are being played out in the China seas and at the border with India at an opportune moment.

You will never have a political balance on this forum if a variety of opinions cannot be expressed, maybe that is what you want?

You should seriously ask yourself how come the forum has become so politically unbalanced under your watch?

It has never been politically balanced as the majority of contributors are aware of the unjust situation that exists in the country today. You have been given plenty of opportunities to state why you believe as you do, and instead of attempting to do so simply change the subject or attack the poster. If you cannot defend your government just say so, or make a case for it.

<applause> Congratulations SH. You have managed a full 3 sentences without one mention of France, or the opposition parties in the UK, or without taking a swipe at another poster. You have also managed to avoid using sniggering little faces at the ends of sentences. Well done - keep it up ! However you have only managed all of the aforesaid by venting your wrath elsewhere - namely another distraction from the uncomfortable fact that whilst the disease is still raging in most of the Americas, India, Russia and the UK the EU appears to have it under control ! Do you really think that the Chinese are at fault because about 5 times as many Britons have died as Germans ? Your second sentence is a curious one 'they obviously realised the economic effect it would inflict on the West' - as if they somehow had an interest in doing that when we are their best customers !

I think you'll find that there is - or was - little difference in the regular army/conscript uniforms though, so they could easily have used 'current' British ones. Or Danish - they still have national service. Germany did away with national service in 2011 - and the last time I read up the subject were considering bringing it back. Presumably that never happened? I did like the German idea for conscripts though - I have friends in Australia who 'did their stint' and learned a trade at the same time rather than being sent off to kill people somewhere.

In the absence of any evidence to show the Chinese actions were criminal (under whose law were they judged to be criminal ?) and in the absence of any evidence to show why China is responsible for other country's responses, your assertions are meaningless.

Firstly we can do without your childish sarcasm.

I'm sure the Chinese government is enjoying the disruption to financial interests in the West, it gives them many opportunities to pick up distressed businesses. It also has taken advantage to further grab disputed land. They have also proved to be unreliable as business partners. Long term contracts were ignored on PPE equipment, favouring short term profit. This will backfire on them. Take my daughter's business for example, she will no longer be spending millions per year with them when her new manufacturing plant will be up and running. No western government will let themselves be beholden to China on vital products again given it's selfish behaviour.

Your first sentence reflects the thoughts of most of us when reading your posts - almost to the letter. I will repeat my question - are the Chinese to blame for the fact that Britain has failed miserably in coping with this crisis compared to most EU countries ?
