    On a less facetious note, independence at a senior level in the CS is very important and the CS has a long traditional of being independent albeit that the clue as to what they are there to do is on the name

    I may have missed it, but I haven't seen agitation by the Opposition around this?

    They weren't particularly independent over Brexit. There was a big Remain bias, like the BBC. I'm happy if the head of the civil service is someone who believes in Brexit and wants to make a success of it.
