I agree 100% with this one. The tactics where shocking. We don’t ever press players. We go into two banks of 5 and let them pass pass pass. Most players who given time will pick a pass let alone world class players. Giving world class players the time is just plain stupid. I have been saying it all season. Most teams press us on the ball from the strikers to the defenders yet we are the only team I have seen who never press from the front. When you lack quality you rely on graft. Not just positional sense and constant blocking the ball and hope they keep missing. We had one shot on target. Honestly I can’t remember which one it was but the stats say we had 1. At one point we had something like 24 completed passes in 26 minutes. That’s because instead of us trying to play any form of football whatsoever we just hoofed the ball.
You know if some bloke sold you a car, told you it was great, and then it turned out he'd sold you a dud, would you buy your next 20 cars off him? At what point would you expect the car to work? Pete Graves is the used car salesman in this analogy if that helps.
Well, none of it makes any sense to me. I don't understand how the ownership of Newcastle United - a completely separate issue to broadcast rights - is subject to complaints from BeIN sports, nor how or why the PL would need to listen to such complaints. Saudi trying to make a member of the PL more successful, thus improving the exposure of the league and its ability to call itself the "best", is surely a good thing for all involved, including the PL and ALL broadcasters, yes? Too suspicious for me.
Sorry but there was a chasm in tactics for me. Not in formation as you note, but tactical approaches are not simply down to formations. Its about mentality, pressing approach, etc etc. The pressing element is the main thing. Don't get me wrong the players deserve a bit of stick for quality on the ball in that first half, that isn't Bruce's fault. But he had clearly told them to soak up pressure and sit back rather than press the ball. It never ever works. Like I say its close to insanity to achieve a 2-2 draw earlier in the season employing a different pressing mentality, then change to that. The only thing which would change my opinion is if we find out that he didn't send them out with that mentality, had asked them to press the ball in the same as earlier in the season, but the players just froze and bottled it. I wouldn't expect that of these players so I'm looking at the manager.
Would you? His record isn't great. I'd probably suggest you stop putting your faith in proven bullshitters. I don't present myself as a font of knowledge on all things Newcastle, and certainly not on a takeover. I keep my trap shut because I don't know. You won't find me on social media saying "a source has told me" because I don't have any real information. Pete appears to be in the same boat but the difference is he makes **** up. This isn't conjecture from me either, I have proof of him saying it was imminent on the 22 May. I have him again saying it on the 3rd of June. Indeed if I went back I reckon on regular occasions he has probably repeated that same line again and again over at least 6 months. Indeed I reckon he might have done the same on previous takeovers too. I never had you down as a sheeple to be honest being duped this easily.
Does it, though? O&D test is about sustainability and criminality. The named directors will pass this easily. Piracy itself is an issue, but not directly related to owning Newcastle United through an investment firm. The two are and should be unrelated. Bein should WANT a better league, better teams, more investment, better players, it benefits them GREATLY to have exposure to the league. There is always the threat of Saudi Sports buying them out, but that in itself is great for the PL - more competition. Piracy clampdown is a broader issue, not exclusive to the PL and again unrelated to a takeover of a club. Bottom line is, whilst journo's don't agree, there's something really ****ing suspicious about this, above and beyond plain incompetence. Look at the timing with Scudamore - he left right when this NUFC/Middle East stuff started kicking about. They really, really struggled to find a replacement eventually settling on this arrogant, smug twat. Bein should have no real issue about it - they can whinge a bit, but that's a WTO issue. As I've said, they (Bein) bought the rights to the PL knowing full well the Middle East has piracy issues. The PL don't stand to lose from piracy - only Bein do due to a lack of subscribers in KSA. But piracy isn't the main problem - the fact football isn't highly regarded is the problem. There's a host of issues that are there, but they are so far removed from a private takeover of a private entity (NUFC) from a private investor it makes NO sense why it's rumbling on.........unless illegal or, at best, immoral issues are at risk of being exposed, in the exact same way we have seen at FIFA, UEFA, Seria A, etc. 2 + 2 =....
It’s a bit like putting the lottery on and saying it could be you this week. But deep down you know that there is a better chance of Joelinton scoring 5 goals this season. I admit it’s close odds but he should do right!
Basically they just throw around a lot of ****. At some point some of it is going to stick because there is so much of it.
If it's not about corruption, then it's about the influence of other clubs who do not want more competition. Both of which are nothing to do with their test.
More like a beermouth. My mum always says if it smells fishy then it’s off. There’s something fishy about the delay! There really is!
Great isn't it and then they claim they brought us the exclusive Ignoring their 64 previous attempts. Its like a manager relegating us through the leagues, and then because he gets promoted out of the Northern League, claiming he's brought success to the club. Its an easy job sports journalism now. The takeover being a good example. Indeed the takeover is an ideal one, because its shrouded in mystery and drags out over a long period. Print a few different versions of the same story across your various media related accounts. Do this every week while this uncertainty remains, then at some point one of those stories might turn out to be true. I think because he works for Sky, people assume he'll have a hotline to the PL, who in theory you would expect to have some information about our takeover. Reality is unless you are close to Mike Ashley and/or The Saudis, you know **** all. I doubt Pete has a hotline to either and probably only gets the bare minimum from the PL sources.
I suspect other clubs oppose it. Man City don't. It'll be Liverpool, Spurs, Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea.
There will really only be a handful or two of people who actually know what is going on and because there is so much money at stake these people will be seriously tight lipped on things due to nda’s and confidentiality. So again I agree that any journalists who have any form of reliable intel from an insider is quite frankly few and far between.
Do the clubs get a say in these things. Honestly? Because if so they would never agree to it. Imagine the scenario. PL asking the clubs if they had any objection to another takeover which may seriously affect their own ability to qualify for the champions league and lose a **** load of money. Of course they will object!
There are still great journalists out there who know how to work a source, or how to get someone onside on the inside. They aren't working in the sports media though. They are probably doing serious journalism or have probably ****ed off to an independant who isn't over regulating their work. The ones who work for Sky etc are just tabloid types.
