Our October games are... WBA....................HOME ARSENAL..............AWAY BOLTON...............AWAY VILLA..................HOME Lets say we beat WBA, not a good performance but win we do. We lose to Arsenal, no shame in that then lose at Bolton. We go into the Villa game on 8 points and potential bottom 3, a must win game if ever there was one. 1-1 with 5 minutes to go, pressing hard for that winner then up steps Bent, what do you want next? You want Bruce out but do you want Bent to score? I'm sure you can guess my answer, whats yours, it could well happen.
You been having nightmares about this, considering its 3.30am... Bruces demise will be a combination of things, Bent could just about seal it... How-ever there is the other side, where he manages to scrape out of all this, with a few results...
and being the eternal optimist I still think he will get through it, I'm up because I dont feel to good.
My prediction, dont look at my record on the argus thing, we wont lose a game in October. WBA......................WIN ARSENAL................DRAW BOLTON.................WIN VILLA....................WIN and a star will be born, Bendy wont be able to play against the gooners, up steps Mr C Wickham
There will probably be a few suprises along the way for sure, guess it depends which side turns up, the good or the very bad.
Much as I dislike the idea of Bruce still being our manager, I think you should wash your mouth out, or are you trying to make everyone as unwell as you?
I think when we look back on Bruce's time here, whether he stays or goes, you can track the moment when it all started to go tits up to that fateful January day when the announcement came through that Bent was leaving. From that moment onwards we have just collapsed completely. We were sitting 6th and 7 points clear of 7th. We had, I think it was 35 or 36 points and we were on course for a huge season. Bent's goals left and we havent looked forward again. He wasnt replaced, or even attempted to be replaced in the summer and the rest as they say is history. Bruce will constantly ask himself this question into his old age. What if I hadn't let him go and kept him for the 6 months up to August 2011. Would we have finished in the top 7 and maybe a UEFA Cup slot? Would that have turned Bents head back to us? If we let him go when in Europe, could we have attracted a top quality replacement easier as we would have had a European carrot to dangle? In letting him go, maybe for personal reasons as well as any financial or footballing reasons, was it the single biggest mistake of my managerial career ever? If Judas scores and wins the game for Villa, you can bet that Bruce will know thats the final insult and the final curtain as well. It could soon be Bruce's epitaph at the SOL.
How do we know that we didnt attempt to replace Bent? Could have had our bids turned down, or personal terms not agreed.... we know that Quinn et al never comment on stuff like that.
Attempted to replace Bent?, but where are we going to get a 20 goal per season striker from and persuade them to come to Sunderland. Its a mindless comment about replacing Bent as we have no idea what has went on behind the scenes.
You missundersdtand Bill, Commo said it could be very good or very bad, re suppot Newcastle, the very ugly. Coildnt have you thinking I meant support them.
Tevez? How do make him think sunderland is in Argentina.... does anyone have a few thousand UV lamps hanging around?
Ah but thats the point Dan, the board actually did issue a statement on that very issue, they revealed that when the Villa bid came in they spoke to Bent and offered to review his contract at the end of the season, by all accounts he was on 55 grand a week at Sunderland with Villa reportedly offering him 85 grand a week. Iam in no doubt whatsoever that had we maintained our 6th position qualified for Europe our Board would have given him whatever he wanted....
eh? I wasnt talking about Bent's contract..... I was talking attempting to replace Bent once he had decided to walk. The club have never given a statement about players they have attempted to sign, unless the offer was made public by a) the player concerned b) the other club - and even then they dont always make a statement.
No wires crossed with Dan I think Syd, I thought the point being made was that the Board never explained the reasons for Bent going or the subsequent attempts to keep him at the club...just crossed wires apologies lads !!....This always happens after a bloody night shift...roll on retirement in 4 years time and the move back to me beloved homeland where I can get batter on me chips and feel the Seagulls ****tin on me from Roker pier !!!
