I expect Lewis to be DWC again . but I can't wait , Just hope Williams survive , though I expect the name may Disappear IF they get bought out . I agree with you that I want some real competition for the Title . Above all , Like you I'm just looking forwards to racing starting again .
Next weekend isn't it? That snuck up on me fast. Got no idea how this season is going to pan out, which makes for a refreshing change. Half of me hopes to see Vettel leading the way to throw a real spanner into the works.
I think the teams have had a long time to think about the test results earlier in the year and while they may not have worked on the car nothing was able to control their minds from thinking of improvements. Also, the younger drivers will have found it easier to keep their reflexes sharp during this prolonged period of inactivity. I think it is quite possible we will see a rare mistake from Lewis, even more from Seb while the young blood will have stayed sharper. Combine the two and we may get that surprise. I would have said Lewis was favourite for the WDC this year, now, I have my doubts. A shorter compact season with fewer races means the drivers need to hit the ground running. I think MV could be trouble for Lewis this year.
Looking forward to seeing how spicy Vettel is going to be this season!! I hope Merc haven’t got a monster that no one can live with but reading between the lines I think they have. Suspect Red Bull will be very quick out of the blocks having had the extra time to evaluate. Renault have a triple upgrade from the off too so interesting to see if Pay Fry can help steer them back on track. I just hope everyone has our developed Racing Point, the ****ers.
To be honest I would like to see Racing Point do well. Purely as they are sort of doing a B team like Torro Rosso (or what ever clothing brand they are) i.e. using last years bits, well sort off. Imagine being the one to come up with that idea and actually telling the Boss 'we should copy the 2019 Merc' !!!! Then think of the meetings discussing it.... I would have loved to be a fly on the wall.... Then the reveal in testing I do admire their enginuity.
Double header in Austria might throw up some interesting early WDC standings. Max will surely fancy one win at the least, Red Bull always go well at the Ring. Couple a strong Red Bull performance with a slip up for Hamilton, and we could be leaving Austria with Max in a strong position.
Are they enforcing any changes between the races? Different compounds or anything. With all that rubber down and fresh data they're going to be blistering fast second time round.
Ooooooooooo... Black livery for Mercedes. https://www.motorsportweek.com/2020/06/29/mercedes-to-run-black-livery-in-2020-f1-season/
Is that Black for mourning? The 'Silver Arrows' is hard to ditch. A distinct possibility. I have SkyGo so can watch live this year. I had Sky till I separated in 2018, last two years have been Channel 4 or Sports bars, but on the up now.
Livery looks really slick. Not sure that race is the biggest barrier to F1 entry but rather wealth. There are major race issues in the world but I’m not sure Mercedes Benz or F1 is the starting point. What I hope we see is the likes of Mercedes Benz and Liberty offering engineering and driving scholarships to the underprivileged areas of countries which in turn will massively help the BAME communities too as these communities sit within that demographic. I suppose what I’m saying is that I would love to see genuine action and I hope this isn’t just a brand stunt like the nonsense we hear from those Hollywood “stars” who have suddenly jumped on the bandwagon.
Also https://www.bbc.com/sport/formula1/53218197 Many of the same words as the Motorsport article but also includes this from Lewis... Can we read anything into the likelihood of them continuing together into the future?
I think it looks a certainty for Lewis to finish his career with Mercedes Benz at this point doesn’t it? They seem to have had a great relationship from start to finish and they’ve given Lewis some leeway on the direction (I.e Tommy Hilfiger sponsorship was initiated by Lewis and now of course their great statement around Black Lives Matter). Only way this doesn’t continue is if Mercedes decide enough is enough with F1 but it doesn’t seem to be imminent at this stage.
Is there still talk of Toto leaving? That's the only thing that I can think that would upset the applecart.
The last interview I saw with him , he had no intention of leaving , but did imply he may step back a bit . Pretty sure he has not yet signed a new contract .
