George Martin rated him the best drummer he produced. Not as good as Charlie Watts though.

None of them are as good as Moon the Loon. Even Bonham.

Ian Paice was the best drummer I saw live. And Joey Musker, the original drummer for Dead Or Alive, who should have been famous.

    Really? Lucky ****er.

**** sake, I would have paid a lot for that. Songs for the Deaf is a classic album, they must have been touring that with Grohl on drums?

Yeah, it was Songs for the Deaf. I saw them again after Grohl left with Joey Castillo drumming who was equally as good, but playing parts Grohl had written though

Amazing, Grohl did all of the first foo fighters recording on his own, the lot. Every instrument..then he put together a pretty amazing band.

Tunes though, that's what I mean. I never heard a metal band, Sabbath included, that had so many TUNES as AC/DC. I remember being dragged to a Uriah Heep concert in the 70's by my mates: half way in I thought 'Is this the same song at different speeds?' Saw Purple a month later, and they had tons of tunes and songs (and unfortunately a semi-comatose Tommy Bolin on lead guitar). It may as well be jazz if they're not playing any tunes imo.

not even a fan of that. Just not my cup of tea. Watched pulp sets from Glastonbury in 98 on the Sunday and I think 95 too. Brilliant as was at both sets.

U2 are on a completely different level to Oasis... their early stuff was superb and what's more very much their own style, tracks like I Will Follow, New Years Day, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Pride, With Or Without You, Running To Stand Still, Where The Streets Have No Name ... and even One Love, Beautiful Day in their later stuff ... Oasis have done absolutely nowt to come close to those ... IMHO ... whiny nasaly Manc twats <laugh>

I completely agree with you, yet I think U2 belong in the cesspit of music, and yet I still even agree that at least their earlier stuff is better than what followed and light years away from anything Oasis ever laid down. Where that leaves Oasis god knows <laugh>

Have to admit to some bias - my cousin and I saw U2 at Nene College in Northampton in the early 80s when they were virtually unknown ... compared to the usual acts appearing at the student union they were on a different planet and "I will follow" had the packed audience in the small venùe pogoing madly ... it was one of the most memorable music experiences of my lifetime ... and quite obvious that they were going to go on to be big <cheers>
