It's more to do with how poor we were first half, that fine margins and we could and should have probably been 2-1 down and if it wasn't for poor defending by Fulham we would not have come away with three points and that we were better when Harrison switched to the right and Costa came off and that ex pro's called the move/change was to give Dallas more protection, just saying
Happy Birthday, Rich. Just a pity we didn't get that result today. Now that would have been a birthday to remember! Your birthday prompted me to have a look at the fixtures, and it so happens that my birthday falls on Wednesday, July 15th. The day we play Barnsley at ER. Hopefully that'll be the game where we seal promotion, & hopefully the Championship with it, making the Derby & Charlton games irrelevant & enabling us to watch them in a nice, relaxed manner, with a huge grin on our faces. Fingers crossed for the best birthday ever!
Nah, Clouseau is old hat. They've found worse than him to investigate all things Leeds. Worse for us, that is!
Err. Like Bamford and like Phillips, (top of the league for now and both played their part in that) the laughing emoji meant it was a (failed) attempt at humour
I didn't deliberately leave out the first goal. Just pointing out that it's perfectly feasible to ask the question whether Harrison is a better player on the right and for the reasons given. We (and he) played alot better second half when he switched wings. I never said THAT was the pivotal change. Just that it's ok to have the discussion. Jammy, Bamford is ****e. If that makes me a bad judgement of a footballer then so be it! I can live with my assessment of him and your assessment of me.
Happy Birthday Rich and all a matter of opinions I guess. Personally I wouldn't be swapping Dallas (started 39 games) for Douglas (started 4 games) under any circumstances. And at the risk of turning blue in the face we weren't better because Harrison switched it was because Pablo is a midfielder and knows the position whereas Roberts is a striker and doesn't. Once we took a striker off in Bamford and we matched the numbers up in midfield it was so much better. It could just as easily been Roberts that went off...do you remember WBA (h) when Tyler came on at HT but was subbed off about 25mins later ? WBA were causing us the same problems in midfield as Fulham did yesterday. Bielsa had to react and change it to alter the pattern of the match otherwise the likelyhood was that we would lose our 1-0 advantage...almost identical to yesterday. That's now two examples of decisive actions taking by Bielsa that have resulted in 6 points gained against two of our closest promotion rivals. You could argue he made the mistakes in the first place with his selections but he's at least he sees what's happening and does something about it.
Sorry just replied to you rather than emu. Pretty sure most fans appreciate what Bamford has contibuted to the cause.
We'll just have to agree to disagree on Bamford... Nothing personal it's just opinions about football/players etc
Yep. No problem here. You are right about Bielsa making changes. That won us the game, not Harrison switching wings. Pablo ran that midfield second half.
Cheers mate and I’m hoping you have an even better Birthday, the day our promotion is secured would be a hard one to beat
Cheers mate. I thought the starting 11 was good, I wouldn’t have started Pablo, half time was an ace move by Bielsa and very brave
It was also brave to wait until half time before making the changes. That way, he had 15 mins to explain the neccessary adjustments and also for them to have maximum effect on the opposition. Fulham probably thought just carry on as prior to half time (as they were controlling the match) but before they had chance to react to the changes they were already 2 down. Hopefully you noted the looks of resignation on all the Fulham players when that 2nd goal hit the back of the net. Fantastic stuff and full credit to (all) the players who are definitely side before self.
Just remembered something very interesting from the post match meet up with the legends. One of them and I'm not going to say who, was absolutely clear and gave conclusive reasoning about why Janson had to go last summer. He was unequivocal in his criticism of Pontus and actually asked all the other legends if they agreed with his stance...to a man they all did. Obviously behind the scenes Janson was a majorly disruptive influence and a bit of a twat to boot.
Did they say what specifically he had done because it's looking increasingly like he could be going up with or without us?
