Anyone else get woken up by that foghorn that was going for like 20 minutes at 5.30 in the morning? bloody loud
Took the car out for it’s weekly exercise, this morning, and I see that the Avenue, from Winchester Road to the motorway, is not only single lane in both directions, but also now a 30 mph limit. It does not bode well for returning the city back to anything like normality, if the main road in and out of the city, from the northern side, has it’s capacity halved. Good luck getting out of Southampton when football crowds are allowed back, if this is a permanent move. Hill Lane, from Archers Road towards Winchester Road, is also getting a cycle lane makeover. Not as inconvenient as the Avenue as it is a single lane carriageway, and wide enough, but it looks as if they are extending it on the other side as well, which would eliminate a lot of on road parking spaces for those who visit the common.
My hope is that they are going to create a park and ride for the city. Otherwise, yeah, it will be a nightmare...
I've gone that way once to a football match. I regretted it and have never gone that way again. I take junction 5 of the M27 and go down Thomas Lewis Way. So much easier.
I always leave that way, easy from Radcliffe Road. I‘m usually early arriving so I go in via the M271 though.
Guess there’s too much money to be made from the parking charges. Should be a big car park out by the airport and just off the M271 and buses/trains to go into the centre. But then that would just be silly wouldn’t it?
