[QUOTE="robin_unreliant, post: 13896137, member: we're going nowhere with him in charge.[/QUOTE] This statement could fill people with dread, or with relief - depending on whether you are happy with seeing us playing Championship football or not!!!
I'm with you on your comments robin_unreliant and I find it strange that despite his spending, and lack of return on the investment, we are still a team away from a truly competitive squad. I would fully understand if SL would come out and say that as long as we remain a perennial contender he is satisfied with our position in the overall scheme of things and if we get promoted then that would be a bonus. The corona virus has upset the apple cart when it comes to normalcy and the financial aspect of the game might take some major re-alignment before we see where the broken season takes us, and those that are financially stable (I think that would include us) have a better chance of riding out the storm. Managerial changes always take a period of adjustment but if that is chosen as the way to go then I think City have had more reasons to swing the axe in previous seasons than currently under these very difficult times.
If players that LJ has brought in are not trustworthy then it doesn't say a lot about his judgement. But either way, whether they are his signings or not, those he's identified as being guilty of letting the side down should be moved on asap.
weird thing "trust" as a description … trust to what " stick to a game plan? or give 100% or be disruptive
From what I can make out Johnson uses the word trust about players who don't answer him back, when the many 'clear the air honesty' talks are held, because he is never wrong.
Hi all, i have been a fan of LJ and want it to work out for him and us, i really do believe him when hes says he wants to get us to the prem desperately, BUT, I am now thinking at the end of this (frustrating) season , it may be time to move on! But as with many, worry about how SL and co. will react to getting in a proven manager, like Houghton for example!
I haven't RP......Unless in the unlikely event SL digs deep for a proven top class manager wanting to come here.........I'll continue to hold my breath!
I seem to recall most Johnson fans said only top 6 this season would do. I am trying to confirm but my son reckons that during the drinks breaks Johnson never gathered his players around to give them encouragement/updates/instructions etc. I recall him involved in an animated discussion with Williams who looked as disinterested as I was after 22 minutes. I think he has lost the respect of the senior players, I am being told he has fallen out with many of them, who dare to answer him back or question him.
Possibly, but for very different reasons to you. Mine are based on a lack of entertaining football coupled with poor results over the past year or so; whereas your's seem based on hatred and nepotism and a refusal to see that LJ has done a good job while in charge of our club. Of course, win the next 2 and it will all be rosy again, the Championship is a tough league and if, and it's a big if LJ goes, we are not certain another manager would do any better, so why chop for the sake of it.
I understand what you say but you have to look at the whole package, firstly the standard of football this season has been mainly beyond dire. I am a season ticket holder, I have to travel to home games from Dorset on the train, with all expense involved and a 17 hour day and I have to be honest the last 12 home games IMHO there have been about 5 decent performances and 7 absolutely shocking games, my mates and I have only renewed for the friends having a drink and a chat reason. Setting up not to lose at home and failing is a piss poor tactic. Also for 3 seasons and counting Stevie Wonder could have written the script, really good and in with a shout of not only the play offs but also automatic promotion, up until January and then shocking performances and prolonged winless streaks for the rest of the season, punctuated by bullshit interviews, even bigger bullshit post match interviews, the "I will have to pick players that I can trust" speech, crap team selections, playing players out of position, telling us how good they were in training, crap tactics, crap substitutions and then throwing his own players under a bus and all of the time none of it not is his fault. Somebody explain to me:- Why ODowda is anywhere near the match day squad? Why he played with only 3 in midfield? Why he played Afobe wide left? Why with 2 minutes + 6 minutes of time added to come and only 1 goal behind, he replaces a right back with another right back who hasn't played for us for 2 years? Why he has only just realised after 4 years that HIS midfield is shocking and that he needs a Bannan type player, when the fans have been calling for this on a weekly basis for 4 years? My belief is if which ever Lansdowne hires and fires doesn't act now, once crowds are allowed back, season ticket sales will be very much lower and that will affect other revenue streams, I would say support for Johnson now is barely 10% amongst the supporters, it cannot be allowed to continue. PS:- I almost forgot to add the annual January window fiasco.
I think most people have formed their opinion based on the 3 years of groundhog day and especially his very public treatment of players and never taking his share of the blame. Win the next 2, how is that going to happen? we couldn't create an opening in Wickes door department. But hey I hope we do, win the next 2 but it won't change my mind, I said give him this season and a minimum of the play offs.
He did dig deep, comparively, with Pat Lam and we see the result. You'll have your day in the sun again with the tops turvy Championship. And then no doubt we'll be debating again in the Autumn when the next bad run comes along.
