So how long should we give him to star doing his job? Some say 12 months... but that’s nearly up... some say 2 years. I just hope his package was linked heavily to goals scored. personally I’d give him half a season more now then bench him. if you have a builder who you employ to lay 1000 pricks a day and he only does 250 then at some point you want to get someone in who can do the job surely....
As your are comparing him to a builder then are you just saying he's a lazy ****? Surely if the builder build the wall doesn't matter so long as it stays up?
As it's under 12 months, I'd ask for money back under trading standards. Failing that, give him as long as the takeover takes.
He'll be better next season, especially if we play him with another, actual, striker in some games. He isn't worth 40m obviously but if he gets some confidence and shoots more on instinct instead of overthinking he'll be okay. In fairness to him the price tag at a club like this was heavy pressure for a young lad with an obscure career so far. The more it's forgotten the better he'll play. Give him another season at least.
I think we can all agree that he isn't worth the money spent. However, we're not changing that now. He strikes me more as a guy who should be playing out wide and competing with ASM, Almiron etc. A front four of the below looks good ASM New Striker Joelinton Almiron
18 months I'd normally say. Solano never truly came good until 18 months in. But in fairness to Nobby he had shown the odd bit, and technically there were a couple of moments when he showed his class. I've seen nothing in Joelinton. I think we might as well accept we are going to see the biggest loss made for a while. I just can't see him ever representing anything like 20m nevermind 40m. He doesn't even look like a footballer. His technical level is shocking to be honest. That's not all down to confidence. Bottom line is Hoff have done us better than we did Spurs with Sissoko.
1 month after takeover sanctioned. Anyway it’s not comparing brickie to brickie. True comparison is chippy to brickie.
Give him more time, he's getting good. Anyone who saw that Pele esque goal in the friendly against Boro will agree. He looked good against Sheff U too, not great against Villa, but I predict a masterclass vs Citeh.
He's a young lad who has been put in a ridiculous position by the club. You can't blame him for his price tag or the fact he has been asked to lead the line alone. When/if the takeover happens then get in a couple of quality strikers so that the pressure is taken off him and see if he can develop. The £40 million is gone now and nobody is going to buy him. All we can hope is that he develops into an asset for the club given time. With a bit of luck that £40 million will soon be seen as insignificant anyway and we can thank our lucky stars that this transfer will just be a blip rather than crippling our transfer funds like it will do if the takeover fails.
He's improving. Playing without a crowd has relaxed him and he's showing the talent that probably attracted us in the first place. If he had more creative tactics around him he'd probably score, as proven by us playing more attacking football and him finally scoring. I'd give him another year, we won't sell him anyway.
Yeah, the change has helped, a few extra weeks in training, now playing without a crowd. Its all aiding in his development.
I like him .. feel sorry for him tbh.. he does good things out on the wing... his best game was the Everton home game imo when he played put wide
Aye his link up play went from good, to ****e, to extremely good again. To me Brucie has ****ed up a little here keeping him out and out striker in a defensive team. He will score more without the burden of CF position despite probably getting less chances and will be able to contribute more to the build up. He isn't Rondon but he's an alternative to Perez.
So we looked a **** ton better yesterday when Joelinton came on, and he had plenty of nice touches and did more than Carroll. With Gayle ****ing up that great chance, and Carroll doing **** all apart from trying to hospitalise Laporte, Joelinton was our best striker. Start him again next game and get Shelvs in again and we won be as ****.
I would say we actually play him in his position (Right Inside Forward) and then judge him. Or we give him time to adjust to the new role. Playing CF currently for NUFC is a thankless task, no one around you, no support especially when it is not your natural role - can't tell me he looks like a natural striker, the chance he was through 1 on 1 and tripped over his own feet shows he's not comfortable in that position.
I think our best bet is to get him loaned out to Germany next season in the hope he does well, and then we get about 15m back. I think that would be great business in the circumstances. I hate myself for not being patient as I always say you should be, but its his ****ing technique. Its horrible.
