Anyone advise me how to get this **** off? I know it's only gonna be a few quid for me to fix compared to what the landlord will charge me:

Yeah I turned lekky off to get the outer casing off.

It doesn't seem to screw though or feel like it will pull off? Might be where it's missing one side so can't get a decent grip.

I'm always paranoid as **** with electrics though ever since I wired up my PAYG meter when I was 17 and nearly blew my face off.

Yeah well leky is off so you’re ok dikhed

if it doesn’t screw...I...not everyone...but me...I would wedge the tip of a screwdriver between the ceiling and the plastic case and gently up n down...in my experience...that is also a workable solution

It’s held on by another part which is screwed onto ceiling...so that you can screw the outer casing on.

Just pull the whole thing off and replace...looks ****e...won’t cost too much tbh(I think)

    Turn electric off.

It’s like being back on site, I find ‘useless ****wit’ to be the most motivational of phrases you can use on a site.

    @Libby

Is it held on by two plastic lugs/legs, once the outer covering is removed...see 2:25...

It was paint holding it on so I took Slurps advice of just breaking the whole thing so off to buy a new one now.

Hopefully you can leave the base plate on, and just wire in and then screw on your new one.

Just ban him just to be safe. Don’t want the Feds snooping through your unqualified advice.

    RIP Rodders.

Apparently according to matey in the shop i need to take the top bit off?:emoticon-0112-wonde

Is an electric screwdriver a suitable replacement for a voltage detector?

Starting to think that this wasn't a good idea.

    No, am I ****!

Complete amateur, just been trying wire up this absolute cluster ****. Failed in the end, too much wire in too little space.

I've not achieved much in the end, will end up reverting to an extension cable under the bed to ny side.

Which I said I'd do in the first place, but she said it would be neater with an additional socket instead! I should just listen to myself and ignore her, always.
