    Tbh the minute you discuss the wider issues (which, had they been addressed may have prevented the horrific attack on the child) some accuse you of not caring about the victim, being pc gone mad, virtue signalling, looking to excuse the perpetrator etc.

    Haven't read anyone say the bloke should be released back into the community or not held accountable for his actions.

    Imo, those in positions of power discussing if a mistake had been made could prevent a similar event happening in future.

    I would wanna kick the **** outta those 2 cops who took photos of those murdered women if they were my daughters. However if you put up an argument exploring why they behaved that way and were opportunities missed to prevent those officers being so abusive I would not assume that you were saying they should just be let off.

    An horrendous attack on a child will always make us feel morally and personally sick but it is not wrong to respectfully discuss the wider issues imo. Failure to do so will leave lessons unlearned imho.

    just found this out today... Friend of the family, her old man was admitted to hospital when he was in the last stages of his life, he had Alzheimer’s and he’d stopped eating and drinking, was taken to a COVID ward, caught Coronavirus, died and was registered as dying from/with Coronavirus.

    Why though?

    So pretty much everybody has acknowledged the point he was failed by the system but a few posters mentioning he was failed by the system is utter bull **** and just an excuse? I’m confused.

    An excuse for what?

    I never knew him tbh, but offer me a week on a ventilator then lights out over a seven year stretch with Alzheimer’s any day, I’ll snap your hand off.

    That poor **** lived 7 year with Alzheimer’s then COVID snatched his last few breaths when he was knocking on heaven’s door.

    Died of Covid 19.

    Don't be confused Saffy, it's quite an easy one to explain, it's what I used to refer to as mob mentality, but in the 21st century has been upgraded to the following situation grabbed from google;

    Herd mentality (also known as mob mentality) describes a behavior in which people act the same way or adopt similar behaviors as the people around them — often ignoring their own feelings in the process. Think of a sheep blindly following the flock no matter where they go just because that's what the herd is doing.

    For further clarification on this matter, I normally find @aberdude has extensive knowledge on the decease.

    That would result in 80% of criminals going back on the streets though. We should get my wood chipper out as back up.

    Might as well get some use out of it, I’ve chopped all of the trees down in a 500m radius of my house.

    You've answered your own question ... he was admitted because he was not eating or drinking due to Alzheimer's... that can be medically managed and would not therefore have killed him in isolation .... Covid-19 kills by attacking the respiratory system, notably the lungs ... presumably he died from respiratory failure?

    Questions should be asked as to why an old and vulnerable man was admitted and exposed to it. Little wonder we have the highest death rate from the virus in Europe.
