The word 'Black' (in this context) includes all disadvantaged communities, even if they aren't

    It is not an opinion

AFAIK people from different ethnic backgrounds accept the term if in the context of political activism

Only in the sense that some Asians: Chinese and from India (maybe Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan etc) do not like 'black' which has nothing to do with skin tone, they identify their experience of disadvantage differently*. Note only some activists from these groups say that and some accept the term as it encompasses the same struggle <ok>

    * a sore point with many other black activists including some Asians

I struggle to see how it could be racist.

But then maps are a bit like history. His-Story, written, or in this case drawn up, with bias by the loudest voice.

    You're on the ball mate

There's no logical reason, given the earth is a ball in a vacuum of space, that North should be up

When the world map is centrally focused on Europe, there's no logical reason why you wouldn't place Australia top centre. In fact maps and School atlases in East Asia do precisely that in that they are East Asian focused

The fact that most maps are Euro focused shouldn't matter, not all historical accident or development results in racist outcomes and that should not be applied in this case eg if you live in Europe then put it in the middle, that's fine

It's the size of places that is completely wrong. For instance Australia is 3-to-4 times bigger than Greenland and Africa is approximately 14 times bigger. Basically the size of Europe is quite large compared to it's actual size in relation to other places south, which exaggerates its importance.

Haven't you seen this map in Ozzieland?

I'm discussing, at this moment, one particular aspect of the current situation. I've clearly voiced my opinion on various other aspects.

I'm bang on topic because the thread is specifically about the slogan, how can you argue with that?

The slogan, imo, is dreadful, divisive and part of the reason the momentum is fading. I'd love all racism and other ism's to vanish overnight but the slogan, and some of the aims and behaviour, are alienating the very people the movement needs to engage.

What's happening is that the slogan, and the 'constitution' is preaching to the converted ...

... pointless and doomed to failure imo.

All the converted can do is preach more, shout louder and become more radical which will cause more people to turn away. I don't believe the people behind the movement are being that clever tbh, there was an explosion of action but they seem lost as to what to do next.

That's how I see it, take it or leave it but don't tell me I'm wrong, my opinion is as valid as anyone's.

Its fine, you do not like the name - that is your opinion and you've clearly put some thought into it ...

Of course, just as in the Great Crusade of Greta, momentum will inevitably decline, whether this decline is sooner /less /more ...impossible to say. People in my circle of buddies and acquaintances are all saying 'this time it feels different' and this time it has been different: the campaign goes on and on. I have never known 'National Conversation' quite like it

The idiots who flew a plane over the Etihad possibly advanced awareness as it was explained on TV etc why this was wrong and further discussed why the slogan All Lives Matter is wrong. And the voices of the black experience was heard.

A lot has been achieved and the campaign will be always be active

Gypsies deliberately choose to live outside of 'society' which gives them advantages and disadvantages ...

... in my experiences the only statues that interest them are those that can be weighed in for scrap.
