View any top 100 albums of all time list (voted by critics or the public) and Queen struggle to get anything in whilst Beatles often have 3 or 4 in the top ten! Queen are a novelty, cheesy, camp band with some very catchy tunes. Hideously overrated though. The x factor crowd/watchers like them quite a bit though.
Queen also have one of the greatest guitarists of all time, whereas the Beatles are on overrated relic from the 60's and 70's.
You're entitled to your opinion...but having seen them live, and listened to their albums, i can safely say that for me, they are by far and away one of the best and most completely talented bands of all time
I don't pay attention to the all time top anything lists and I don't pay attention to critics when they talk about music. I prefer to form my own opinions and I am a Queen fan and a Beatles fan but that is the beauty of music. Everyone has different tastes and there are many different genres and sub genres to suit all tastes. I love discussing music and discovering what everyone likes and dislikes.
Fair enough everyone has different tastes and opinions but some things are clearly wrong and right... Nobody can genuinely think that its right that Peter Andre is better than Bob Dylan, comparing Queen to the Beatles is equivalent.
Again that is a matter of taste. While I think Peter Andre is a tit and should never be mentioned in the same breath as Dylan, he has fans and I imagine a lot of them wouldn't have a clue who Bob Dylan is. I still think Queen and The Beatles are great bands though.
When the remaining members of the Beatles are dead i will play all their stuff again, much like Wino and Jacko
The amount of you who think Queen are even worthy of being mentioned in the same sentence as The Beatles has left me feeling very, very, very depressed with the state of peoples musical opinion/knowledge in the United Kingdom Thanks for making me sleep uneasy tonight!
I hate discussing music with people i know. They all (except for a few notable and noble exceptions) seem to have caught the mainstream modern music bug. I heard some kid in the pub the other day try and argue that Lady Gaga is more talented than Jimi Hendrix. I felt an uncontrollable urge to take him outside and whack him, mob style. There is no way modern music compares with older stuff. I listen to Radio 2, and they play both new and old songs, and i've never heard a new song that is better than an older one.
Oh my God, that is just plain wrong. It depresses me when I walk into a pub or club and hear the music they play and there are very few places that play my kind of music.
I know, if i tell people that i went to see Judas Priest, Megadeth and Testament at the Cardiff CIA a few years ago, people just give me a blank stare. And i'm made to feel like an idiot whilst they then proceed to talk about the merits of whatever Simon Cowell production is big this week, and i have no idea why they like this stuff.
