Manquillo - 4 year deal Carroll - 1 year extension Gillespie - Motherwell goalkeeper Hardly the signings of a 260b pot of gold is it!
Manquillo makes sense. He's a proven PL RB who would make a good back up should we be able to upgrade
According to Chaos he's a superhuman android programmed to destroy anything he comes into contact with and is the best full back we've ever had. Clearly the signing of the decade.
That is literally the opposite of what would happen in my opinion unless you intend to retain him for the long term. You'd have to unpick all his work, history tells us its not easy because he has a very unique way of working. Not least in the players he buys. If you did keep him for the long term and gave him a bottomless pot, I think he'd deliver cups. I don't think he'd deliver a league, his league record is nothing to write home about. But he is a great cup manager. Largely for us it depends what we want. Is part of the criteria of us winning, being good to watch at any stage? If so there are far better choices than Rafa in terms of continuity. If our goal is simply to win at any cost, not be entertained but be pretty sure we'd win something, then I'd say Rafa is a good fit. I don't see why we have to have one without the other so I'm in the camp of not going backwards to Rafa, not being sentimental with Bruce, and simply setting off a new path, which involves good players, great football and winning. Maybe I'm just greedy.
Maybe that Geordie MP can be lurking in the background and she can ask him what the **** is going on with the takeover and when it's gonna be announced.
Another little something to dwell on - all the piracy stuff from KSA (you know, all those letters and updates that do NOT mention NUFC) seems to have come about from the WTO report. Seems like it's got **** all to do with Newcastle United in my book. Quarter of a year into an approval process that's supposed to take under a month. And still we're believing it's happening? Haddawayanshite.
Have we been hoodwinked again. I do think Ashley wants to sell. But something is clearly not right with the takeover.
We've only hoodwinked ourselves, mate. It's called cognitive dissonance. Or "we only see what we want to see".
