    Simples.

Colonialism requires a country to take over the country if another to subjugate its residents. If a group of individuals invades, by definition it’s not colonialism. The word is simply designed to be inflammatory by extremists.

What are you trying to say here “only you've not given the land back to the owners yet.?”

“Own?” I guess you have no understanding of Indian belief systems and culture eh?

“It all?” Where are the boundaries? Specifics?

You don't need specifics, remember your posts on Cecil Rhodes, South African tribes didn't have land documentation either, you posted about Cecil Rhodes stealing land as a colonial, but Americans did exact the same, both theft or non theft, you tell me, both the same.

Tell me about it, you complained about Cecil Rhodes, but it's OK when your descendents did it. <doh>

I don't often get involved in this stuff but I will just add a little story in and amongst the tit for tat arguments going on here.

My 8 year old boy has picked up on these demonstrations and the fall out from them.

The result of the "black lives matter" protests are clear to see in my boys confusion. We can learn alot from kids sometimes. He's been asking lots of questions but the main thing that seems to have irked him is the fact that for the first time in his life he now feels that he is different to black people. It's sad to see.

He has never seen colour in people. They were just people. It never even crossed his mind that people with a different skin colour could be different to him. That's the way we have brought him up. The "black lives matter" movement has now planted that seed that he is different to black people. Thats not me or his family that have done that, it's the "black lives matter" people.

Apparently "all lives matter equally" is seen as provocative but to fully bring everyone together I think it would have been better.

Ridding society of racism is not a short term quest. Unfortunately for the people alive today, time is a great healer and playing the long game will be far more successful. As each generation passes it will dilute evermore.

It's not easy to take but it will get better for your kids and their kids etc.

I just look at my boy and can see the total confusion on his face about it all. He's never even thought that his little pal from school (asian lad) was ever any different. I just wonder how he sees it now.

    As Forest Gump said......

"That's all I have to say about that!"

I was responding as a Leeds fan, you don't have that many supporters for anybody to notice if you turned your backs.

Listened to sky, doing a Black lives matter thing the other day, they had one of our old favourites Kamara telling a story of a racial problem he had when he was a 16 year old Swindon player, the thing that stood out for me was that a 62 year old had to go back to being 16 to tell a racist story, how far have we come.

My descendants? Which ones? Where? When?

Better to try stick to known facts than guessing mate.

Your ad hominems just serve to demonstrate an inability to articulate a reasoned argument about the topic at hand.

I don't know you and I certainly dont know your son, but what you have described is WhitePrivilege. Honestly, I was not aware of the concept myself up until two weeks ago. I was inquisitive about it and I did the research to get informed.

It's not a criticism of you or your son, it is simply an observation of what the realities are for black people and how we as white people cannot really know the impact of it.

Tell us then, are you ashamed ? Do tell then, tell us why American colonialism is better that others. Why do you avoid the subject and keep saying Britain, Britain, Britain while burying your head in the sand about Americans.

I don't recall commenting on Rhodes and land. I have no knowledge of what land Rhodes claimed. By all means show me where I did.

I'm not ashamed of anything. Where did I say I was?

You continue to make up stuff to avoid the facts.
