The guy behind the banner has been sacked from his job, also his partner has lost her job... https://www.lancs.live/news/lancashire-news/burnley-fc-fan-jake-hepple-18481786 Police have confirmed they will not be pursing any criminal investigation.
A shame about his girlfriend, she looks nice, like butter wouldn't melt, but she's been done for racist comments too.
I've just looked on twitter. One quote she made was, "They should all be sent back on banana boats, the ****ing baboons." What a charming girl.
Comments in regards to your use of social media is nothing new within the workplace, which are now written into employment contracts. Must admit though I can't think of examples of where someone has lost their job (referring to him) when no criminal charges have been pursued by the police. Should people who deface monuments/statues also lose their jobs? Genuine question, where are we going with all this, it's something that is common place in Russia, where just for protesting about something, can cost you your job.
As I said on our board . I feel uncomfortable that they have been named and their faces seen . What they have done is disgusting , but no crime has been committed . I fear for their personal safety .
So what happens now, she goes on state benefits and becomes unemployable? Don't get me wrong, the comments are totally unacceptable, I wouldn't employ her knowing that. But the point remains, is she now unemployable?
Probably. Would make any interview a bit awkward. She could be entrepreneurial and do some sort of EDL OnlyFans. Decent money to be made there.
I know you are joking, but the point I'm making, is now taxpayers will have to pay for her being unemployable. So as you seem to have a fooking answer to everything, what happens now?
Great idea, this, anyone that is a racist, sack them and put them on state benefits....fooking genius idea
If i was the bloke , assuming he hasn't been so blatantly racist in his own social media usage , i would immediately lodge an unfair dismissal claim as i struggle to understand what personnel / HR guidance they are using for this decision.
Maybe we need a list of people who could become unemployable, I'll start the ball running... Those found guilty of domestic abuse...surely that must rank as highly up there as flying a banner over a football ground.
I'd have thought in this era that companies are liable to sack somebody if their actions reflect badly on it. As you say social media clauses are written into all sorts of employment contracts now.
Those that have social, issues and Asbos because they come from broken homes and struggle in society . Fly a banner then BURN THEM .....
Well domestic abuse was meant to be high during lockdown, so i expect to see lots of sackings then yeah? What about people that go out on the piss and start a fight, ABH, GBH. Not having a go btw, genuine question.
If it’s anything like a company I know of Current policy is to sack the person , if that person then chooses to fight it , that’s a chance HR are prepared to take . Though if he does and wins , in this instance , the company may regret this knee jerk reaction ..
my guess is he is well & truly ****ed as i bet a forensic traql of his social media usage will pull all sorts of stuff as it does for most tbh . As an aside DWP fraud investigators apparently hardly ever leave the office these days just trawl govt held records and social media and thats it .
But you know and I know that will not happen......unless the media focus on it. There are hundreds of cases every day I expect in a 70 million population, I think the media are going to have their work cut out
