Good Morning. It's Tuesday 23rd June, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Hernandez on the mend Leeds Utd journalist Phil Hay has delivered some encouraging news regarding the fitness of veteran play maker Pablo Hernandez. The 35yo picked up a knock during a session of murderball last week which kept him sidelined from the Cardiff game on Sunday. Former Chief football writer for the YEP, Phil Hay believes the Spaniard has a good chance of being ready for the crunch match against Fulham on Saturday :- “They’re telling us he’ll be back training this week – so ideally involved against Fulham. Sometimes it’s easy to under-estimate the sheer quality of his passing and vision. It makes a difference so often. You almost take him for granted because he’s so gifted.” Did we miss Hernandez on Sunday? How did Roberts perform in his place? Does Roberts deserve to get dropped? If Hernandez is fit to start, would you like to see Roberts replace Bamford in the starting line up? The former centre forward claimed that Leeds were the only team in the Championship that had no replacement striker on the bench. “It is a huge problem,” “A huge problem! “I do not know any Championship side this weekend that did not have a striker on their bench. This is a joke, quite frankly. “A team that is level on points, top of the league, only has one striker to choose from and no options on the bench. “I cannot think of any side that has no replacement striker. That is poor for a club like Leeds United. “I cannot remember a time where we have no had a second striker on the bench for the whole season. “Most teams benches are stronger than Leeds, teams that are not even up there challenging.” please log in to view this image Will missed opportunities cost Leeds? Have you wondered what position Leeds would be in, if they put away their chances? I suppose all teams can say the same about missing good opportunities........ until now! 'EFL Stats' have recreated the Championship table to incorporate every goal-scoring chance, and the likelihood of scoring. Expected goals (xG) measures the quality of a shot based on several variables such as assist type, shot angle and distance from goal, whether it was a headed shot and whether it was defined as a big chance. please log in to view this image
Morning all. Im not going to even bother debating the striker situation, its obvious to anyone without rose tinted glasses how serious it could prove to be. One point I will make is if we win promotion I hope Bamford is shipped out. He wouldn't be good enough as a back up striker even at pl level. Pablo missing Sunday was colossal. None of the others seemed capable of creating anything and game called out for a bit of his magic. Elland missed most important news of the day - Happy birthday Wakey
Cheers bud im at work down the midlands today. Ive had better bifthdays as i should have been in Greece today
Morning all. Hearing that Woodgate has been sacked and Warnock taking over at Boro. I thought he'd retired.
Good Morning to Matt and co from a sunny Bardsey Bamford should be shipped out as soon as posssible he is a liabilty why not try Edmundson a Tyler up front Incidentally Costa is not worth 15m and I feel Harrison at 8m is to dear our front three do not put enough in and this new lad I an Proveda is no better than what we already have We should have had time enough to find a striker in Jan Happy birthday Wakey you still have a long way to go to catch me! Warnock has been appointed as Boro Manager he says that this will be is last but then again he likes money to much so he will not go quitely
Morning all. Personally i think Whelans comments are off the mark. We have two first team strikers in Bamford and August in. Roberts can also play up front as well. We then have Edmundson who was about to step and feature. That's four options. It is unlucky that two of those are injured at the moment. How many more strikers does he want in the squad? Strikers who would get limited chances to play. Regarding Costa and Harrison. Harrison has been brilliant this season getting better each week. A snap at 8 Mill in this day and age. Costa has also been improving as the season goes on. If he goes the way of Harrison and improves in his second season I think we would be hard pressed to find as good a player for 15 million. I know neither were brilliant on Sunday but let's not judge any player on that performance. Look at the season as a whole.
