Next up it's another Utd, as we face a trio of them back-to-back. This time it's West Ham. They're in desperate need of points, as they're hovering just above the relegation zone with a tough run-in. It's their biggest fixture and they'll be well up for this, so we need to match their intensity and show some quality. Can Mourinho grab a long-awaited win or will our poor form continue through the restart? The Spam's season has been a pretty disappointing one for them, despite a relatively bright start. One loss and three wins in the first seven games had them up to fifth and thinking positively. Nine losses from the next twelve saw them plummet to 17th and sack Pellegrini, though. The return of David Moyes came a day later and wasn't widely welcomed by the fans. They won his first game back 4-0, but they've only picked up one win since and they're in trouble. This fixture in the last campaign saw us lose our first match at the new stadium. Our abysmal end of season form finally crept into our home games and we failed to beat Fabianski. We dominated possession but looked weak on the break and we fell behind after half-time. Michail Antonio scored the only goal of the game and they posted 72 videos to celebrate. Due to this I don't seem to be able to find any videos of it, apart from theirs, so have a picture instead: please log in to view this image The match earlier in the season was Mourinho's first and it went very well, until Davies got injured. Goals from Son, Moura and Kane put us well ahead, until a late comeback threatened to ruin it. Antonio got one back and then a late, late one by Ogbonna ended the match in the 96th minute. There wasn't time to complete the capitulation, thankfully. We repeated the scoreline and order of the goals in the next game against Bournemouth, bizarrely: Foyth and Tanganga miss out again through injury, but Moura has returned from fitness and Alli's ban is over. Ogbonna, Haller, Snodgrass and Masuaku appear to be out for the visitors. Neither side has any suspensions. Lineups for each side's last league game: Spurs: Lloris; Aurier, Sanchez, Dier, Davies; Sissoko, Winks; Bergwijn, Lamela, Son; Kane. Subs: Gazzaniga, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, White, Skipp, Ndombele, Fernandes,Lo Celso, Sessegnon. League form: WWLLDD. West Ham: Fabianski; Ngakia, Diop, Rice, Cresswell; Noble, Soucek; Bowen, Fornals, Anderson; Antonio. Subs: Randolph, Fredericks, Johnson, Balbuena, Wilshere, Silva, Lanzini, Yarmolenko, Ajeti. League form: DLLWLL. Ref: Craig Pawson. VAR: Graham Scott. TV: Sky Sports. How would you like to line up for this one and what would you change from the Man Utd game? Would you stick with much of the same lineup, make a few changes or go for a wholesale switch? Which system and tactics would you use and what are you expecting West Ham to go with?
Given who’s fit I would like to see: Lloris Aurier Dave Dier Davies GLC Sissoko NDombele Bergwijn Son Kane Picking that CB partnership in the interests of longevity - they were mostly good against United from the 60 mins of that game I saw and the more game time those two can get together, the better. All that said I think we might maybe pull in one of the Belgians at CB, it wouldn’t surprise me to see Winks instead of Sissoko, and one of Alli/Lamela if we play more like the 4222 we used against United rather than the 433.
GLC won't start as he's struggling with a groin problem. Personally, I would prefer Dier in DM ( to stop Noble ) and Verts at CB.
Hope that we do our bit and Bournemouth do theirs ...and if they don't, Wolves, apologise to your keeper later
Sounds like Gio still isn’t 100% to start so with that in mind, I’d like to see: Hugo Aurier, Dave, Dier, Davies/ Sess Sissoko, Tanguy Bergwijn, Dele, Son Kane Really hope Tanguy starts, Jose was biggin’ him up before the restart so it’d look odd if he’s on the bench again. We need to see Tanguy 2.0 in action.
I am honest I am not looking forward to this match. I haven't enjoyed many matches since the resumption and this one has banana skin written all over it. 2 out of form teams, 2 managers who are better known for setting up their teams to be difficult to beat and no supporters. I foresee a frankly boring match probably won by a single goal that they nick completely against the run of play. They always turn up for us, and I dislike losing this fixture more than any other because the spammers I know are all the worst sort of winners and all my social media gets filled with them for days on end. I want us to take the game to them tonight and for Jose to send them out to try and blow them away early doors as I think that their confidence is fragile and an early goal should set us for a win! My team for tonight, would be the same DHs, hope that having Dele in the side brings the best in Harry out if he can score the early goal even better as that will boost his confidence too, but I live in hope rather than expectation.
Still no Ndombele and Bergwijn dropped to the bench... *scratches head* Good to see Gio in the XI though.
The Berg to come on as sub is fine by me. Tanguy maybe hasn't got the speed and intensity that this game needs. Noble would be at him
If dropping Tanguy is because of Mark Noble you’ve got serious problems as a footballer and will never cut it in the Prem.
I don't see how that midfield works, to be honest. I hope that Alli's not playing deep, as it nullifies him completely.
My guess is its 433 with Sissoko holding - looks an attacking line up and they have come to shut up shop, if we don't score early or even worse they do, then this may well be a very long and frustrating evening C O Y S
It makes sense if we play 4231, although that means Lo Celso is playing the Dembele role Honestly, that's still better than the other logical suggestion, namely a 4141 with Sissoko in the deeper role
The Sky pundits tonight Jammy Redknapp, the man who spends most of his time trying to flog our players , as bitter as lemons toward our club and Bobby Zamora.............nuff said rooting for the pykies
