I got lucky in the late 80's when Dire Straits toured Aus on their Brothers in Arms tour. As Canberra was an outdoor venue they were allowed an international support act and it was Hothouse flowers. It started to piss down with rain and they wheeled the piano to the front of the stage so it was exposed and sung "I can see clearly now" in the pissing rain. Absolutely brilliant
Aye where has the time gone! I feel old. There was a lad at school who was heavily into Hendrix. If you remember back in the 70s it was a style to have band names embroidered onto denim jackets. His jacket had Hendrix face bleached on the back panel. Looked pretty good. As for Rory Gallagher, went to see him at Reading Hexagon around 1988. I’d never heard any of his stuff before but he was really good.
Saw them at the Empire back in the 1980s. Another band I had only heard of. Since then went out and got a few of their CDs. Not that I need any now.
I love my music - desperate to get back to a concert (although might nit hurry really!). Missed Michael Schenker and Whitesnake/Foreigner(although that was not Covid 19). Had hoped to see Molly Hatchet this year. Possible future concerts - Cheap Trick, Kris Barris Band, Sari Schorr. Yes deep down I am an old rocker but have a varied taste to be quite honest.
MSG were the first rock act I saw live at NCH in 1980 or thereabouts. Also saw Whitesnake at the same venue a couple of years later with Cozy Powell banging away on the drums. Best live band I ever saw though was KISS. Puts every other live act I’ve seen to shame.
Sunderland Empire I assume, if so I was there as well, and I saw my first live music ever, Lonnie Donegan, and of course a bit later, John Paul George and Ringo, same place..
My favourite concert was probably Pat Benatar. I was fortunate to see her on the Get Nervous Tour which was her only UK Tour - her gigs were Newcastle,Birmingham and London IIRC - she was on the Tube as well (which linked into the Newcastle gig). Probably Scorpions supported by the incredible Blackfoot was memorable.Front row at the City Hall for Sammy Hagar on the Red tour as well
??? are you in the same fix as me have two huge boxes of Betamax tapes in the attic with lots of great stuff on them, lots of early Jamaican music, and about 300 LP's and tapes mostly influenced by John Peel , but its about ten years since I could play any of them, but haven't got the heart to part with them.
Yep, Sunderland. In 1987/1988 iirc. I was home from the army with a broken leg so me and a mate saw they were playing there and bought tickets for something to do. Really enjoyed it.
No, I just stream everything now. All my vinyl went before we emigrated. Pretty sure there were one or two rare items in there but Mrs EJK said they had to go!! All my CDs went to the Salvation Army earlier this year.
I was literally going to take all my cds down the charity shop when an add came on the tv this morning saying we will buy all your cds so I thought hello do they know something I don't so I am hanging on to them.
