A bit in the Echo about more cycle lanes being introduced. I understand the need to reduce pollution, in the city, but will this work? Will it encourage more people to abandon their cars and use bikes and buses, or will it just increase traffic queues, by narrowing lanes etc, and actually increase the pollution as a result of static traffic? https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/18...-bitterne-road-west-portswood-road-hill-lane/
Probably not imo. The ones on the avenue are ridiculous given many using it at rush hour are using it as a route out of the city. Not like people are gonna start taking their pushbike up the M3. Suspect it will result in more stationary traffic, which is terrible for pollution I believe.
Getting cruise ships to plug into the grid rather than run their engines 24/7 will make by far the biggest difference.
I feel sorry for the kids growing up in 2020. Hearing this stuff constantly must make for a pernicious childhood. I'm going to make sure the news is off tomorrow.
