Here's my twopenneth worth.. It is wrong to suggest that all black people are the victims of the system and all the white people who are expressing concern and dismay of the BLM protests are all racists.
It is far more complex than that, and meaningful research, without fear of the racist card being pulled, needs to be carried out as to why a larger percentage of black people are stopped and searched by the police. I just think that branding the system, including the police and the justice system, as being racist is not being helpful and is just serving to divide people further.

If you believe that justifies your comment I'm afraid I must disagree.

Also, iirc, that he had been pontificating on a number of other threads before I made that comment, which again contradicts your claim!

Given your earlier claim, are you, perchance a social worker?

The first quote is first paragraph of first post of thread !

    This is too easy.

    Another one who can't read!

I would have thought that 'reading your papers' would have allowed me time to make my edit.

You now, though have unfurled your colours for all to see and understand your agenda!!

I'll leave you to it. No hard feelings, no agenda.

I have to finish last week's Sunday papers before tomorrow. As you can imagine stereotyping etc. has been a hot topic. All quite complex.

It was a bit of fun on my part mate.

Shameless loves the phrase and keeps going on about people making ad hominem attacks ...

    ...then doing it himself.

I'm obviously missing a lot of the subtleties on this board but what a refreshing change from the other board, which has veered out of control.

You're all still a bunch of racist t***s mind you :)

Different nationalities/races have certain characteristics which you can call stereotypes if you like.

But acknowledging a stereotype doesn't make you a racist ... although it's a hanging offence in the eyes of some people.

I've worked in a French security situation whereby I'd come into contact with all Europeans plus Brits, Aussies, Americans, etc.

The glaring similarities of people from the same nationalities was a source of amusement for the lads.

In that kind of work you'd absolutely have to make an instant judgement on everyone who arrived at the gate. The holiday complex held 5,000 and there'd be a constant stream of people coming and going in camper vans, caravans, tents, etc. We had a security staff of a dozen lads and, if you were on the front gate, the very first thing you'd look at would be any newcomers number plate.

Nationality, or the particular region of France, was a big part in deciding how to approach people.

The response to a carload of 5 North Africans, with a Paris number plate, would be, 'Sorry lads, the place is absolutely full'.
To a family with German plates it would be 'hello and welcome, choose your place, number 1773 is free and it's on the riverbank'.
To a gang of Danish bikers it would be 'this a family site but you look like a great bunch of lads so we'll happily let you on, don't let us down or you're off'.

It's all right for people to say you should give everyone a chance, get to know them and don't judge a book by its cover ...

... but those people aren't in a situation whereby serious trouble could ensue if they misjudge the situation.

If judging races, based on personal experience, is racist then I'm a racist.

Surely this is a question of the amount of time you have to make a call.

If I have time to get to know someone, anyone, I can make an informed judgement.

However I can also make an informed judgement in a split second if I have to. Working on the door of a 2,000 capacity rock music stand up venue, in gang riven Nottingham, necessitates making instant decisions. If LL Cool J was playing, and short haired white townies started showing up, in dribs and drabs, you'd be on guard.

If loads of black lads were milling around, before a Bad Manners gig, you'd be equally wary.

That's life, there's prejudice and division all around us.

I've never denied doing it, if someone's acting the twat I'm happy to say so.

My point is that you throw your arms in the air, about it, but are one of the worst offenders.

That is the very definition of racism. Whatever reason you give for your action it is racist.
