Cardiff fans paid for tickets they would have bought anyway, no promotion, so no refunds, every intention to spend the money on players when the offer was made IMO, then the money was needed to keep the club in existence as skeletons fell out of Hammans cupboard.................money well spent IMO, nobody "cheated" except those with their own agenda........we paid for season tickets, and that's what we got <ok>

The money was needed as we hadnt paid tax and were under a transfer embargo.

Nothing to do with Sam Hammam.

Don't think he "escaped" criminal charge. It would have been pretty harsh to get charged for basically giving people what they paid for. Sure, what he said he would do with the money, he didn't do, but hardly criminal as I am sure it would be easy to prove the money had to be used elsewhere.

    Yep - a non-story really.

There were no criminal charges to be answered. As others said, fans got what they paid for, a season ticket with the promise of a free-one if promotion was gained. If promotion was won, and season tickets weren't made available for free, that would have been a whole different ball-game!

He certainly miss-led fans as he must've known of the transfer embargo when he made the announcement. I guess the prosecution would have to produce witnesses who would swear on oath that they would not buy a season ticket if they had known of the embargo and no players would be bought.

    Question is:

Did Ridsdale know about the embargo when he made his announcement? - Obviously yes.

Can you belive his comments that he belived money would be forthcoming from Malaysia earlier than it was (and hence the ticket money was used to plug the tax gap)? - Quite Possibly.

Did the fans get what they paid for? - Pretty much, with the exception of team strengthening.

Would fans have paid up early if they thought the club needed money to survive? - In all liklihood.. Yes.

Have we moved on and a new chapter begun? - Most definately...

Put it to bed now, ancient history....

absolutely, people got season tickets for a good price, the money went to pay bills, though ridsdale did mislead fans into the belief that the money was going on transfers <ok> to call him a criminal, and this story a scandal is a bit silly really. people would have bought them a few months later anyway and dont they get their prices fixed for like 5 years or something? bargain.

on another note, look how his replacement gethin jenkins has gone about his business here, refreshing after having someone like ridsdale here thats for sure. not one scandal yet <ok>

Agreed Swamp, however Gethin Jenkins, has had the luxury of a properly funded and more professionally run outfit, he hasn't HAD to duck and dive and to sail as close to the wind as PR had to just to keep the club afloat.......no one is denying that PR was a bit of a chancer, but he kept the club going AND got the stadium built, not a saint by any means, but not a sinner either <ok>
